Sound like you ordered it from a third party seller and they sent you the Canadian version.

That’s what happened to me a few years ago too! And of course it was when I bought it as a gift for a friend and didn’t even realize until I gave it to him.

He’s not the kind of person that gets hung up on that stuff... but it drive me crazyyyyy lol

Ugh that green filter in fotr is so disgusting, it makes all the beautiful natural colors look drab and ugly. Only way i would buy a 4K version is if they go back to the original color scheme.

I, for one, appreciate the remastered FOTR and feel it was a pity that the other two didn't receive a similar remaster as well. That extends to the theatrical cuts too.

It was approved by Jackson himself.

Theatrical FOTR needs a proper remastering more than anything else. If they wanna give it a green tint, I can happily live with that as long as it retains all the other qualities of the EE transfer. Hopefully that remastering happens for the inevitable UHD. And HDR should balance out the green tint.

I honestly prefer the green tint over what the theatrical BD looks like.

Personally, I prefer the green tint. Looks more natural, and looks more aesthetically pleasing.

It really sets the tone because we spend the first part of the film in the shire where everything is predominantly green anyway.

Green tint makes sense because the first hour is in the Shire which is already green enough anyway?

Exactly. I'd be willing to bet that has something to do with why Jackson did this. It also goes really well with Rivendell.

I’m still not a huge fan of it, but I’ll admit it’s not terrible by any means. I inderstand that they didn’t get to use a DI for the entire movie back in 2001, so they used the EE BD as a corrective/revisionist experience. But the original look won an Oscar, if for no other reason it should be preserved for that. In any case, the theatrical FOTR transfer has a ton of other issues that need to be rectified badly. Really don’t want that UHD to be another Batman Begins.

Yeah, the theatrical BDs leave a lot to be desired when compared to the extended BDs. There are many problems with compression and artifacts.

It's so you can tell they're in the Matrix.

Id like to remind everyone yet again that the green tint magically turns off at some point during the end credits. The difference in the text is immediately noticeable. Don’t take my word for it though, go try it yourself! That, to me, screams there was an error.
