They bought the rights to make show, that doesn’t translate to them owning the rights to do with these movies whatever they want.

That's not what I meant, at all...
I'm simply pointing out how much Amazon is willing to invest in production of a TV series that will normally remain exclusive to their digital service and may or may not be successful - meanwhile it's apparently too much to ask WB for a re-scan of LOTR, one of the most revered franchises ever, in native 4K (let alone ask for 4K re-rendering of the VFX).
I find a little bit of irony and madness in that juxtaposition of facts, that's all. I'm not implying anything beyond my words above.

Just watching my way through the trilogy again. I'm about 6 hours in. We got all four Hobbits coming to Calgary Expo at the end of April.

It's too bad Weinstein's name is attached to this series.

Don't forget, before anything can be done with these, He's also remastering all his old films for BD (cough cough, yeah, sure, cough cough). Of course that talk started wayyyyy before any of this talk, and yet somewhere in there he "squeezed in" They Shall Not Grow Old. Dude has too many cakes in too many ovens, and I fear the entire kitchen will burn down before any of it happens.

This marks at least the 1000th time I said publicly those early films will never happen, still waiting on some crow for dinner! Come on Peter, I'm ****ing hungry here! I'd still look stupid if they came out tomorrow. Don't you want to make me look stupid?

Vudu has the bundle of LOTR extended editions for like 19.99 for all three in HD. Now I can watch without switching discs, hooray!

These extended editions need new transfers badly. They are so inconsistent. There's the scene in FOTR where Aragorn let's Frodo go and the shots of Aragorn are pretty bad...almost DVD bad.

Well, yes. I would buy the extended editions in 4K. And if I would, I'm sure many other people would also. I don't think they'd be in danger of losing money.

Especially if they added the remaining unused scenes as bonus features or something.

They're definitely going to release the EEs on UHD, and many people will indeed buy them. Warner doesn't have to rebuild the movies in 4K to do that, simply upscale the DI as is the standard practice.

So I just found out that my Fellowship Of The Ring Extended Edition BD I have two part one's (no part two) of the film,, is their any way of getting a part two disc from the distributor?,,phone numbers,,email???

It happened to me in a Harry Potter DVD set, the third film was a bonus disc with no film in it. So annoying.

Here's all the contact info for Warner Bros., Warner Home Video is listed on the back of the box of the LOTR EE set as the distributor as they now own New Line Cinema.
