No we will get an announcement when WB or Peter Jackson decides to give it. I’m thinking they delayed it and it will either come out around Christmas or next year.

I was looking through my Google Library, which is linked to VUDU and Movies Anywhere, and I noticed my theatrical copy of The Fellowship of the Ring is in 4K. I don't have the other two movies in the theatrical form. (My Extended versions are still only in HD)
Can someone confirm that all the theatrical versions convert to 4K in Google Movies? |

I just bought it in 4k at best buy, 9 disks in packaging for what should be 4-6 disks max in my opinion. 3 disks were loose, one disk, two towers theatrical version is badly scratched in about 6 places from rubbing on the hard case. Total garbage.

Hope someone can point me in the right direction. But I want to get the ideal copy of this trilogy on home media. Looking at cap comparisons, very disappointing 4k, I saw Geoff assert that these are 2k upscaled. Makes sense.
So not worth spending £60 on this. Is the extended 2011 Blu-rays the best copy? And does that release include the theatrical cuts too? |

I’m sure there are improvements to find but I’m not seeing anything that satisfied me to express the same thing?
The new colours aren’t all better although an improvement from one of the older additions when they added a blanket colour filter on it. … no new detail, looks like there may be unnecessary DNR too. Maybe I’m asking for too much but after spending so much on Blu rays (and I’m not rich) 4K has to feel like a worthwhile improvement to upgrade. A lot of the Sony 4ks satisfy that, and so do some others. But this 4k reminds me of when I scratched my head at the whiplash comparisons. I won’t pretend to be an expert on comparisons, far from it, but I shouldn’t need to be. If something is different, that is down to preference, but if something leaps out at you as being improved, it should be pretty intuitive to want it. From what I see, this 4K set can wait some years and drop down in price before bothering. |

Hi, new user from Canada and I was hoping somebody could help me.
May main question is really if I buy the set from wowhd.ca which it says ships from Kentucky and if that's the case I could also get it from Amazon.com? Will the digital code work in Canada or will it be locked to the US? Background to my question. I had purchased the set back in January from Amazon.ca and it was wrapped in a lose plastic bag, not the normal shrink wrap. Didn't really think about it much. I finally opened it yesterday and when I redeem the digital code it says "the code is already redeemed.". I contacted WB and gave them all the proof of purchases they wanted and pleaded with them and explained it to them but they won't budge and give me a new code. I was so angry. Clearly Amazon sold me a returned item, not a new one. I pushed Amazon into giving me a refund but now I can't find it at a decent price in Canada (most places that do have it are far more expensive then when it came out). Amazon.ca doesn't sell it directly anymore either. Bestbuy doesn't list it on their web site. The cheapest I can get it is from Wowhd.ca or Amazon. com. Hence my question. Thanks. |

Why do people want a new version so soon ! 4K only got released late last year ! I don't fancy paying another $90 for the same movies again. its hardly going to look any better than it already does it already looks amazing in 4k

Deep thinking. He was over 70 and retiring - and didn't want to commit to a 3-4 year project. The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen was possibly a nice closing statement for him and certainly a nice last paycheck. Ian McKellen, who was almost 9 years younger and not retiring took the role and ran with it. Sean enjoyed his last 17 years on Earth privately with family and friends. Perhaps when you're older it won't seem so strange - unless you're still chasing fame and recognition, which Sean Connery had had plenty of, thank you ...

I believe he turned down Lord of the Rings and also Magneto in X-Men and after both of those films were huge hits he took League of Extraordinary Gentlemen which bombed at the theaters, he became upset over that fact and decided to retire. That is the story I've heard multiple times.

Funny that Ian McKellan would get both the Gandalf and Magneto roles after Connery passing if true. |
