In the original release, FOTR had a very unpleasant green hue throughout. This is solved in the 4K release but the detail suffers in all three films due a lot of overzealous DNR use in addition to some other questionable, to say the least , color changes.

There have been more examples posted in this thread. That's only for the Extended. They were asking about the theatrical versions. |

Which is better for the extended versions - original BD, remastered or the 4K version?

If you do not want to buy different versions to create this and are only willing to chose one trilogy set I would go for the Remastered BDs. On the Hobbit it's imo CLEARLY the original Extended BDs. The additional DNR and the exessive sharpening ruined the Remastered BDs and 4Ks of the Hobbit completley. |

Out of all the LOTR options (HD and UHD, past and present), the 2021 remastered HD seems to be the best choice? It comes complete with all the extras. The UHD, although having both theatrical and extended cuts, contain zero extras. Both have unfortunate revisionist color grading changes and DNR, but the DNR is more noticable on the UHD. Is this correct?
Trying to decide which versions, out of all the ones that are available, I should get. |

And for me the original The Hobbit Extended BDs are for all 3 easily the best options for those- |

Hello. I own the Spain ''Middle Earth'' boxset (for the BD). The one that has both trilogies and all extras, INCLUDING theatrical cut extras. (It's only missing the Theatrical Cut movies in BD, but I can get them separately anytime, or I have them with the UHD set) and the UHD Middle Earth set (the one with the book style packaging). So.. basically I own every TLOR extra, not counting separate ones.
I am interested in adquiring The Lord of the Rings Theatrical and Extended extras in NTSC form.. it's a personal pet peeve of mine; since Warner doesn't bother or care to add the extras on Blu-ray discs.. PAL is stuck with some overscan that bothers me, and the NTSC copies do have the proper thing. Plus, the Theatrical in Spain for the first movie has the extras dubbed. But there's a problem. Considering I also want Theatrical extras .. and extended extras.. I feel like I'm gonna have to buy the movies at least two or three times. Does anyone have a recommendation on what is the best to get, that has everything at once if possible, to avoid repetition? Any NTSC options that may be cheaper than the US, as well? If not, US it is.. For the Extended I do believe there were 5-disc amaray sets for each movie. That has the Costa Bates doc as well (I think).. but it's missing the Theatrical. Seems like the only way to get the theatrical extras as well is buying the Theatrical cuts.. |

For theatrical extras, get the full screen dvd trilogy. It’s an alternate aspect ratio and will provide you with the theatrical extras. |
