For me it's good news that they do a two-disc for each movie. The bad news is that I have to wait until individual releases since I'm only interested in the first

Default Tread Carefully!

This release of extended versions with 9 DVD's is crazy! I already have the previous extra stuff. Please just give me the 3 movies on blu ray - no extras! Also, will these movies have been carefully remastered? I think not as this isn't the Ultimate Edition and Peter Jackson has not overseen this project! If the movies are not released seperately I will wait for the Ultimate Edition 2014 or 2015!!!

Sell the DVDs or give them to a family member like I did.

Unless it was just the small image from theonering.net is there another unboxing picture somewhere. Because the one I'm looking at is tiny.

Cool

The reason why I sold my DVDs of the Extended Editions was so that I could watch each of them without having to annoyingly get up, and switch discs. I hope to god that each film is on a single disc. Blu-Ray discs have more than enough space to hold it together, with great quality, so I don't see why not.

But, if it's released with the films being split over two discs, I might hold out, and eventually get the set when the price has gone down. Otherwise, 1 Disc-Per-Film, as soon as Pre-Orders go up in the UK, I will have made sure I get this day one!

9 DVD's of extras? That sounds great, but why not cut that down to a couple of Blu-Ray discs? They can keep it at standard def and fit a whole lot more per disc.

So is this the year of the box sets? I don't recall as many boxsets being released last year, just BTTF and Alien. This year we have Scream (although they are individual releases), Stanley Kubrick, LOTR, Star Wars, Superman, possibly Indiana Jones.

I'm guessing one reason is that then they'd have to reformat all the menus, and that's time they don't need to be spending. I'm sure there's another reason or two. Lame, though.

ROTK with the gay hobbit slumber party?

Seriously: Don't really like the first neither, but it is the best of the three IMO,and the one I can somewhat overlook the faults in the movies.AND:Sean Bean is in it who gave the only creditable performance in the movies-also IMO.Know alot of people love the movies, and I respect that.I'm just not one of them Each to his or her own I guess.

PS:Wish they did a remake of them with Fincher in the directors chair. There:I said it

Well I'm sold. My price point was $70 but I can handle $84 from Amazon since theres no tax. It'll probably drop to 74.99 or lower by release date.

Very glad to see the EE digital copies are included as well. Definitely come in handy for LONG flights/car trips.

I agree it's lame that there'll be that many DVDs, but so long as the movies themselves are remastered to better quality, I'll be happy.

I guess with Blu-ray finally starting to grow more rapidly the companies are wanting to get as many of this trilogies and saga's out to keep the general publics interest peeked.

- LOL -

Yea, I am the same way about these films as the only one that I really crave repeated viewings for is 'Fellowship', however I will buy the whole set anyway.

Hmmm... a much more darker version of LotRs.

I would be first in line for that one.
