Maybe because studios have a tendency to tell us that they're offering something new when it's just digitally touched up crap?

I doubt that! Eric is a wannabe and wants to make himself look big when he's just another guy behind a CP

Question for you guys. Amazon.ca lists LOTR as 'Limited Extended Edition'. I'm assuming it no different than the regular edition, right? I'm not planning on buying right away so the 'Limited' really caught my eye.

It was originally limited, but then they changed it. Perhaps Amazon.ca didn't change the title yet.

Uhm, how do 5 discs fit into those usually single disc cases? They would really need to be crammed in there, and constantly slipping off.

From the looks of the screenshots you can definitely tell that he is lying through his teeth. I agree he is a clown that is full of s***

Same way they do with TV shows on bluray. Lost season 6 is five discs and its in a case barely bigger than a standard case. The cases will be slightly thicker. Its very easy.

Yep, not only is that color in EVERY freaking new film released today, they also manage to work it into the old ones that never even had it in the first place!

I'm not impressed with the screenshots - a little more detail in some shots, less in others, and everything colored with the crayola equivalent of "envy green". Look at the snow in the mountains while holding a piece of white paper next to the shot. We'll just have to wait and see what the real thing looks like.

Have you seen the photos of the "shelf hog" packaging? It will only take up about 1/4" more space in width than 3 regular cases side-by-side... And that's only because of the thickness of the box in which the Blu-ray cases will be housed.

Perspective is a wonderful thing.

I agree on this, the previous theatrical release is too orange red.

Overall is great, this is the better color for bring out the film feel, and the clarity is much much better in this EE.

The only image which seems less details is that ring only image. The rest is gorgeous and better for me.

Google "lord of the rings extended edition blu ray", then click on "images" at the top left of the screen, and scroll down to the third page.

I agree on this, the new extended release is too teal green.

I agree. Jackson and crew used the color timing in the original to convey something about the location. He says this in the special features. The shire is warm and gold as is rivendale. Moria is cold blue representing the cold desolation of the mine. Lothlorien was meant to have a mystical ethereal feel to it. Bree has green added into the grading to give it a grungy dirty feel. However, it isn't consistent especially with the other films which do not employee this technique at least not to the degree that was used in FOTR. Its a cool idea, but its just not natural and makes for an inconsistent picture. I mean in rivendale the people have a skin tone close to the Simpsons. I don't care how magical or safe rivendale is it can't change the wave length of the sun and for it to be that orange just comes across as severely artificial. I prefer a more consistent color timing and something more natural than what is on the theatrical cuts and DVDs. Some will say the teal isn't natural, nut its far more natural than what we had.

And this one is so awful, I can't believe it's REAL!

http://screenshotcomparison.com/comparison/58337

Not only does it appear less sharp, but it is also lathered in teal! I can just see this now...for FotR everybody will have teal eyes, and then in the following two movies they will then be changed to blue.

If this is a true comparison, then I just might pick up the theatrical version of FotR to go along with the set.
