It does help make it a bit more filmic where as the colder image makes it look like a documentary filmed in 1080i.

Lord of the GREENS!

How do these blu ray EE shots compare to the EE dvds as far as color goes? Do the dvds have this same overpowering green as well?

It never, to my memory, looked this green. This is the problem that I have with how quick it is to change the look of something digitally. You can make huge changes to the overall appearance of a film without even really thinking about it. Also, with the heavy leaning to teal with MANY films of late, it makes me wonder if some of the monitors in these D.I. houses are set incorrectly. I'm joking, of course.

I'm all for a stylized approach, but this presentation of Fellowship is coming close to The French Connection on BD. I can handle a little DNR. I didn't think that the theatrical Fellowship looked terrible.

However, the warmth that was present in all the versions of the film that I have seen is now gone. That warmth was crucial to the opening sequences in The Shire. It was a safe place before they left and everything was cold, save for Rivendell.

The green tint looks bad. You can lie to yourself all you want to justify buying the extended editions, and that's fine. However, it makes me wonder what you will all say if they offer an exchange in the future?

I'm not gonna judge this release until I have it for myself, like Star Wars, plus I didn't buy the TEs so looking forward to this release quite a bit.

Agreed. It looked off immediately to me and I hate to admit that being the most anticipated blu release yet for me Not loosing all hope though until we have more comparisons/info, but if these shots are accurate what a bummer.

I seriously think there would be complaints if these movies were packaged with freshly minted $100 bills. I for one am just happy these films are coming to blu-ray...

They may not be perfect, but I'm certainly not going to take screenshots on the internet as reference for whether I will like it or not. I'm still going to buy these day 1, and I'm going to enjoy the $hit out of them every time I watch them...

the screenshots scientists would have a field day - "These $100 bills are tinted greener than the $100 bills I DEFINITELY remember from 10 years ago!"

some people actually complain about these here. I am baffled that really leads me to think no matter what they had done they would have complained.

I wanted to aks the same.
Cause I think the DVDs and/or the thetrical presentation had green coloring.

Can someone compare the supposedly EE BD shots with the EE DVD ones?

You're out of your mind if you think the TE looks better. The screen of Rivendell in the EE alone looks better than the whole of the TE.

Apart from the greenish hue, which probably only stands out more because of the redish hue of the 1st image, they look amazing!

The detail is much sharper! The TE are very soft and blurry in some of those screens, and the edges are much more defined and sharper in th EE screen.

Get over it. Your allegation about PJ not looking into this is quite funny, because there's no way we can know. Perhaps the release will have an insert saying it was approved by him. Also, did any of you forget that the EE of Fellowship was created from a new master?

This complaining is worse than the Star Wars fanboys crying like babies about LOL NO ORIGINAL RELEASES.
