My ps3 won't play The Hunter or Apt 143 both from Magnolia. The previews play and the main menu pops up but no options to play, etc. my other player plays them with no issues. I've even tried updating but no change. Anybody else?

I have had that happen with a couple titles and ejecting the disc and reloading usually fixes it. If that doesn't get it then your player could be in need of a FW update.

I have never seen this happen, after ~1000 BD played on this PS3. A shame I didn't have another BD player to test it out. Well, all I had to do was inform Netflix on their site and I will have another disc tomorrow. I'm curious to see what happens with this one. The OP mentioned 2 different movies from the same studio that caused the same problem. Perahaps I'll bump the other disc up in my queue to test as well. |

I just got Magnolia's new disc of Take This Waltz and it's the same thing. A menu comes up but there are no options displayed and the movie cannot be played on my PS3. What is the deal with Magnolia BD's? This is the third one now that I can not play.

Seems like a widespread problem with Magnolia BDs! |

Had the exact same problem, last night with 2 Days In New York Netflix rental. I wonder if Netflix even cares about this problem?
Edit: Just sent an email to: dvd@magpictures.com In case anyone else wanted to report their problems. Last edited by rickah88; 12-28-2012 at 03:23 PM. |

Watched Queen of Versailles last night(pretty comical), while it did have the menu option load, it did freeze after the DTS-HD MA sound clip played. Also it would freeze after the movie played, and after the extras played.
Kind of frustrating but in order to play the movie I had to go to 'scenes' and select chapter2 and scan backwards to the beginning. I'm convinced it's an authoring problem on Magnolia's part. I don't see how deleting the BD data would cause the menu options to, all of sudden, appear. Either they are there, or they're not. For example, earlier in the thread I posted about my Netflix rental, The Hunter. The first disc I got has no menu options. Then I sent it back and got another disc, and that one worked just fine. Even though I did nothing to the BD data. ![]() I'm not surprised I sent an email to Magnolia's HV dept. about a week ago, and still haven't heard back from them. ![]() |

I've had this issue with the last two Magnolia discs I got from Netflix, Sushi Girl and most recently, John Dies at the End.
Unfortunately, I stumbled upon this thread after returning the disc, so I was unable to try the "deleting the BD data" fix. Has anyone else confirmed that deleting the BD data would fix this issue? |

I tried to watch Melancholia thru our PS3, and it wouldn't reconise the disc. No menu no nothing, plus it make a weird sound. Like the disc is spinning way to fast. Took it out and it plays fine on my standalone player.
Never tried the delete BD data trick, I'll have to try it. |
