Gemini Man 4K UHD 60fps (2019)

Got a ticket to see this in HFR 3D at a theater in St. Louis. It kinda sucks having to drive 90 minutes to see this in HFR but I can make a bit of a day of it.

You guys go to see all of these new movies, and then go back and see the movie for the second and third time...what the heck do you'll have home theaters for? Burning gas and paying triple price for that junk food at the concession stand. When the movies are released on Blu-ray or 4K, you spend more money, and buy them. If I go the theaters that much on a regular basis, I wouldn't even have a home theater.

speaking for myself as an occasional commercial theater-goer, you can’t very well do ‘date night’ (at least, the first part of it ) with the wife/partner all at home
dinner and a movie sometimes is a nice option for going out on date night

The article has been updated, and there are now 14 locations in the US showing it at 120fps. Looks like I'll have to make a drive to see it in 120fps.

Really wish the reviews were better on this one, but can't help to see what 120fps will look like.

I was absolutely planning on blind-buying this, but the prospect of seeing it in 120fps 3D is awfully tempting. I've never seen a 3D movie before.

HFR is the best way to watch 3D IMHO. Already got my ticket.

Is it confirmed every theater that offers it in HFR will be 120fps though? Is it possible they might just be 60fps or something?

I think only the TCL Chinese in LA is doing 120fps. All other HFR screenings will be 60fps.

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

Apparently not the one I'm seeing it at. Oh well.

One of them is kinda-sorta drive-able but I doubt I'll like the movie enough to see it twice. Just interested in the tech.

As far as I can tell, AMC is not differentiating between 60fps and 120fps showings, calling both 3D+HFR.

According to the article(https://www.studiodaily.com/2019/09/...n-showing-hfr/), the 14 locations listed will have 120fps. My guess is that most locations that list 3D+HFR are 60fps.

For instance, per the IMAX website, all IMAX showings listed as 3D+HFR are 60fps. https://www.imax.com/news/experience...-3dplus-in-hfr

So I guess we need to be extra careful to not assume that 3D+HFR implies 120fps.

That being said, I don't know that if I walk into a 60fps showing, I will be able to tell that it is not 120fps

So, I have AMC's A-list, so I go to the theater a lot, for $240 per year (plus lousy food, probably another $300 or so). Over 50 or so movies, it's not an awful deal.

While, in terms of pure PQ a good home theater might be better, I still get a thrill from watching films in the cinema. But a good home theater allows me to re-visit my favorite films as frequently as I want.

That's why I do both.

Plus, movies are my favorite pastime. So, I don't mind a good chunk of my disposable income going to Hollywood, disc makers and theater owners.

I wonder if we will get the HFR version in theaters at all here. They've been showing the trailer for months and months but not once has HFR been mentioned. Only 3D.
