Disc looks really good, but I did notice a lot more compression artifacting.

Particularly in the water in the opening scenes with the boat.

Yeah, I noticed some problematic compression as well. Though I must say it was hard to care much considering how amazing everything else about the transfer was.

I never saw any artifacts on my end. What would these issues in the water be?

Peter, I'm 15-minutes in, @ the scene where Henry takes MEW's character the 'bug' on his boat. I don't see any compression anomalies in any of the scenes featuring any water at this point. Would you have any exact timestamps?

This encode looks exceptionally clean to my eyes.

Correct; It'll play 4K, HDR10, HFR.

Anyone played this on a Sony 930e with a Sony x700 player? Just curious if I'm gonna have any issues with Dolby Vision at 60fps.

Thank you for that. It did'nt even cross my mind. Plugged the LG player directly into the tv and still got Atmos thru the sound bar via Arc and DV! OMG THIS MOVIE IS QUITE THE EXPERIENCE!

I just watched this on my Sony 4K HDR projector (VPL-VW385ES) and it played without a hiccup! Although...projectors don't offer Dolby Vision, so it played in 4K/60 HDR. It did look amazingly clear and smooth. Here's a clip to see for yourself.....but of course it looks better in person...FYI

Later...I'll be checking it out on my Sony XBR 75" 950G in Dolby Vision

Didn't you see any banding then, since our projector goes from 10 to 8bit when being fed a 4K/HDR signal @ 60fps?

No...I didn’t witness any banding at all! The image was pristine!

I rewatched Billy Lynn last night, and I think that's a wayyyy better movie, but Gemini Man yields even more detail and clarity from it's HFR, and is filled with tons more eye candy for anyone in search of hardcore demo material. Frankly, I'd say buy it only for that reason, 'cause it's a kinda bizarre, goofy movie that I mostly enjoyed from an analytical perspective. Shot by shot, scene to scene.

The gatling gun sequence was insane. Most of the action was. Honestly, it made me wish I'd seen it in 120 3D, as intended, since I could still notice minor motion blur that was probably almost completely eliminated at 120, and all the depth spectacle was clearly meant for 3D. It's really just a ride and an idea reel.

Just an FYI for anyone else with my setup. I have the LG E6 OLED and it can only do 4K DV at 24fps. My Panasonic player ended up outputting DV at 1080p 60fps, so I turned off DV in the player to get regular HDR at 4K 60fps.

The water in the shot from 08:38 to 08:51 for example. Towards the middle of the screen. Very pixelated.

Why call it a 4K HDR projector then when it clearly is not?

No issues for me in that scene. Looks smooth and natural.

Do you think it would be worth getting the 3D BD in 24fps?

Okay, okay, I'll bite.

Are you trying to be funny here, or is this some sort of way of trying to get back at me because I have such a strong disgust for your precious HFR?

Anyway, I'm sure you know that none of the consumer 4K projectors out there are actually HDR capable in the same way midrang to high end 4K TVs are. The particular issue I was referring to has nothing to do with that though, and doesn't make my PJ less of a 4K/HDR projector as it is being advertised. Luckily for me, I have zero need of feeding it a 4K/HDR signal @ 60 fps anyway, so in the end, it's a non-issue for me personally either way.

Btw, how's your projector doing? The Sony 385ES says hi.
