I only get DV at 1080p, if I switch DV off i get 4K but no HDR. I have the same setup as you with monoprice premium certified HDMI cable going direct to the TV.

Did you not see the response to that post? Try setting the TV's HDMI inputs to Enhanced.

Watching the film as I am writing this post. While the movie itself is dumb & silly for the tech utilized. I can appreciate it still & nice to see what my TV is fully capable of. It’s just like watching a really long video game cut scene, I’m just here waiting for the right moment to pick up the controller when the action kicks in. This is definitely a reference movie. Some CGI scenes are a bit dodgy & quite obvious though but it still doesn’t take you out of the film. The technology deserves a better kinda film & if done right like maybe a war movie, I mean 1917 would’ve been the right kinda movie for this with the one shot approach.

As much as I dislike HFR I do wonder if you might be right. For whatever reason 1917 just didn't do much for me even though I thought it was well acted and technically sound. It never pulled me in and I wonder if maybe that type of film would be better fit for this type of tech.

I watched this tonight. I went into it thinking I would not care for the HFR, but after about 10 minutes, I really enjoyed it. I must admit, I would like to see more HFR movies in the future.

I have and LG E6 which can't do 4K DV@60, so my OPPO 203 sent it as DV at 1080p60. Looked just as good as 4K, as it was sending 1080p at the 4K bitrate of 85 to 90 Mbps.

I could not agree more I mean while it takes time to adjust to the HFR, I mean given the right material HFR could easily catch on & maybe save physical media since I have seen from the comments that the DIGITAL version is the blah Blu version. It just seems more suitable for sports or video games or nature films. I mean I’ve seen demo modes in various stores utilize it for sales. The technology deserves a better representation though.

There are three big pans in the film, and they look dreadful in laser IMAX, made me think of HFR ^^

Re watched Billy Lynn a day ago to get back in the feel of HFR and watched Gemini Man last night and really enjoyed it. Yes, typical action movie but the HFR was simply gorgeous. The finale really shined in DV @60fps, had no issues 203>AVR>Z9D. The finale will be my new demo piece for sometime.

lol, the bitrate of the source isn't gonna change just because the output resolution is down by 75%. It looks great because it looks great, shot to be super clean and super sharp and the temporal component should not be overlooked, I've said it before that if you offered me a sports broadcast in 4K24 or 2K60 then I'd take the latter every time.

Watched this on my setup the other day. I saw this in 3D 60fps at the theater and really missed the 3D at home. I did notice that by the third act my eyes had become totally used to the HFR and the feeling of seeing something unique was mostly gone.

I was a bit worried about playback issues as my setup is a bit complicated. I go from my 820 player > Denon 6300 AVR > Phillips Hue Sync box > Dr. HDMI 4K > Sony 285. I was having some video dropouts when I added the Hue Sync box, but the Dr. HDMI seems to have cleared that up and Gemini Man played all the way through without any issues.

Funny how the discussion of the home release has way more interest than when it was in theaters

Yea the audio quality really shines, it’s like the dialogue scenes utilize the front speakers while the action scenes & score utilized the rear speakers.

I also tried forcing the OPPO 203 to HDR, and the 1080p60 DV looked better than the 4K60 HDR10 image. Colors were better, blacks were better, and I could tell no difference in the detail. The night time scene on the yacht in the ocean with the stars, was unbelievable.

Looks like most of the talk here is about the technical side of things. How's the actual movie? Not looking for a great story, just some nice action and explosions to pass the time. Would you recommend this?

Thanks. That's exactly what I did. I figure I can sell the digital code and recoup some of the cost back. Sometimes, I just like to see stuff blow up and feel the room shake

Standard action fare, if you like Will Smith even better. I really enjoyed it but the HFR presentation might of actually helped me enjoy it more. It something just to see.

The action isn't non-stop, but it has a good amount of it, and when the action starts it's pretty slick and a serious visual spectacle. Some sequences look incredible thanks to the HFR.

The story and scenarios are not good imo, so buying it purely for a bit of action and 4K demo material is the exact right way to go into it.
