The video isn't being uploaded directly to your brain. It goes through the eyes first. So the goal is to get it to look right before it even reaches your eyes.
So let's say you take video of a concert at 24 fps and 60 fps. The 60 fps video is closer to what your eyes would see if they were actually at the concert. Neither is what your eyes would actually see, but the 60 fps video is closer. This is why I prefer it. Whether one looks more real than the other is of course opinion as neither is real at all. But the 60 fps video is closer to what your eyes should be seeing (if you were at the concert) than the 24 fps video. That part is objectively true. |

I think natural blur or depth of field plays into it too. While our eyes in real life see everything smoother, depending where you are looking, you will still have a specific depth of field to where your eyes are focused. However, with a film like that, none of that is captured and yet the entire screen fits in our depth of field so it loses that translation of natural blur and focus. |

I just couldn't make it through the movie. It was just so bad.
That said, the 60 FPS just doesn't look good. I recall Peter Jackson saying he believed that 60 FPS still needed fine timing and that he believed that it would get better, with the key being learning how best to light 60, and I'd agree. Everything looks like I'm watching a news interview. Add in the bad acting and everything comes across as a bad reenactment. That's my two cents on the movie and presentation. No technical issues with my equipment. |

love this film, Looks amazing in 60FPS. I don't think it was projected this way when i saw it in imax during theatrical run, unless it was certain type of imax, which ive seen recently in different theaters. I think there will be an adjustment time for us all, because it jarring to see such a photo realistic picture now. It will be interesting to see which filmmakers embrace it or not. I think Ang Lees last film was also presented this way on 4kuhd.

My copy arrived yesterday. Looks great and certainly different to anything else released so far. The image does make it look more like a tv show but it is also a tool like any other. It won't make 60 fps replace 24 fps. And, if you don't like the 60 fps then the regular blu-ray attached is 24 fps. With this release the format now offers more and I'm excited to see what comes next.

Watched this fully yesterday. Good movie. Great picture. HFR really worked. Except Junior's face looking odd at times, it was difficult to say which scenes used CGI as most of them looked realistic.
I just wish they had given this a filmic look instead of drama. There were 2 scenes with near blacks which was a torture test for my DX902. My Panny UB820 was showing very high numbers for Max CLL 5000+ nits and Max APL around 1500+ nits |

![]() ![]() Hey everyone, I'm posting this here for the expert members that may be able to help me out. I'm having playback issues at 4K 60fps, with the screen going black and then the image reappears, using a Z9D and Oppo-203 through a sound bar (HTST-5000). The issue is that I get some micro-stuttering and then the screen goes black for longer periods and then the image comes back (displaying Dolby Vision in top right corner each time). Micro-stutters appear unfrequently up until about 00:30:00 and then after this time, the screen tends to go black for longer periods and then reappears periodically throughout the rest of the movie. After it did this like a dozen times, I just stopped watching. Anyone know what's going on or what I can do to fix? Is it the disc or is my HDMI cord not good enough, etc., etc.? Any help that can be provided would be great! Thank you in advance. Kind regards, Bryan |
