Gemini Man is far from being a bad movie. At worst it's just a bit generic. I really liked the platonic dynamic between Smith and Winstead.

After watching this movie, I want more movies to be released in 4K/60. It felt like watching the demo videos at Best Buy at first but something kept me glued to the screen and I want to re-watch it again soon because of the different presentation. It is not that the movie is a masterpiece. Maybe because it offers something visually different and interesting.

Oh, man. That is in the top ten worst movies of all time. Terrible scripting and just was not believable from the start.

Also, I could not adjust the picture in any way to reduce or eliminate the polished 'soap opera' effect. The foreground and actor faces were indeed super detailed, but at the same time artificial looking. I couldn't perceive any depth to the picture and backgrounds looked like painted backdrops. It was all too distracting to enjoy the movie.

Overall the film looked like an insanely lifelike video game (especially the weird lighting), NOT live action. I pray this isn't the direction films are moving to. Worth it for a one-time look-see at 60fps, but this title will just end up collecting dust on my shelf.

I don't mean to knock anyone that enjoys this format, but am I missing something? - some picture or BR player adjustments? - a better TV? Are young people, being more used to video games, able to appreciate this kind of picture more than a 66 yr old noir fan raised on real film?
That's how the movie was shot...with high frame rates. Nothing you can do unfortunately. It's a love it or hate it, and personally I think it's terrible too and I had to force myself to sit through it. Others obviously loved it which is fine (my wife did too). Didn't help that the story was poor and the action scenes were so generic IMO. Both the 2 main actors are normally great, but to me the "stage play" aesthetic of HFR made it seem like they were reading scripts.

It would be awesome to see more Demo material shot like this, because the detail was truly great....I just can't get into it with HFR.

I guess if you want to leave off The Ice Storm, Sense and Sensibility and Eat Drink Man Woman.

But I also highly enjoyed Brokeback Mountain, and so did plenty of other people, considering it’s 7.7 user score on IMDB. Oh, and the fact Ang Lee won Best Director for the film and it also won Best Adapted Screenplay.

I got the 3d, and I enjoyed it at least twice as much as the UHD. The 3d was pretty nice quality too. Effective.

You're just used to 24 fps when watching a movie. It's hard to break that link in your brain. For live action you're not expecting 24 fps or that would look weird to you too. I did have some uncanny valley with the CGI of junior though, that probably didn't help.

There’s something to be said for having lowered expectations, because after reading through all the negative reviews for this movie I was expecting to dislike it (or maybe just be bored by it) but I liked it... a lot.

I have to confess that prior to owning my new C9 and 4K player I had this idea that 4K movies would be spectacular - and although many 4K movies do look terrific, a significant number of them (IMO) aren’t all that much better than their standard blue-ray counterparts.

Gemini Man’s 60 FPS presentation and razor sharp clarity was stunning - and more in-line with my original expectation of what a 4K movie would look like.

Anyway, kind of surprised by this movie. Also, I’m not a huge Will Smith fan, but I really liked him in this. His acting was understated and for the most part felt natural.

Who played the young version of him?

Will Smith did. Err, technically, no one did, I guess, according to Smith:

Quote:
It’s not de-aging... The young character is not me. That is a 100 percent digitally created character. They didn't take my image and stretch some of the lines. It's a completely CGI character the same way The Lion King is CGI.

Though Smith did the mocap for all his dramatic scenes as Junior which is what Weta based the digital performance on. So it is him, but it isn't him

Hi, can somebody please help? Someone I know says the 4K disc (U.K. release) of Gemini Man is faulty because he can’t get it to play on his TV. He sent me a screenshot of the image and it says:

‘This 4K presentation of Gemini Man is displayed at 60 frames per second (FPS) rather than the standard 24fps.’

I had a look a few pages back and told him to turn his DV off and plug the hdmi cable direct to the TV but he said none of those solutions work.

He owns a LG player (UBK90) and a LG TV (60UM7100).

I said to him the disc is not faulty but he doesn’t believe me.

Any help would be appreciated.

Can anyone tell if the Swedish disc has the 60fps version on it? It doesn't say on the cover.

has he played any HFR content with that set before ? Check the HDMI cable, make sure its minimum of a premium 18gbps one. Also check if all the hdmi enhanced options are turned on on the TV.

He managed to get it fixed. He’s never played HFR content before. This was his response:

“Hello, theres no option to change that, but ive had a fiddle with the settings on my tv , ive sorted it , i switched off (hdmi ultra hd deep colour setting) and it does work”

Thanks for replying.

Sooo..... I am wondering what is going on with this disc. No audio from the menu onward. Playing in a Samsung K8500 UHD player, audio fed to an Onkyo Atmos 11.2 ch avr. Other discs have no issues.
