As much as I love my movies in 24fps, this movie was still kind of cool to watch.
Does anyone know if the 4K disc will playback in 60fps on a plasma display? It is a 1080p display but my ub420 blu ray player allows me to watch 4K discs via a HDR-SDR down conversion feature it has. I just wonder if the 60fps is exclusive to only the newer televisions... |

@endoskeleton I used to sell Panasonic plasmas and they natively output 60fps as far as I know. I imagine the 4K player at 60fps should look just fine, and the black levels should be amazing on a plasma (as those pixels are actually “off” during playback - no backlight on a plasma)!
As for the “soap opera” effect of 60fps that some could live without, I can’t help but wonder if we’ve simply been conditioned to expect 24fps over the last century of filmmaking. What if 60fps was the standard from the get-go, like audiences watching Metropolis in 1927 at 60fps, and wouldn’t have expected anything different? |

This is easily the best looking 4K disc I have watched so far! The detail is stunning!
I took this over to my Dad's house to watch but the color is all messed up. Kind of like a overwhelming pinkish color going on. Not sure how to best describe it. He has an lg player. Not sure what is wrong. He plays all other 4K disc just fine. Anyone have any ideas why the color would be messed up on his TV? |

I guess I'm in the minority about high frame rate. I hate it. IMO, it makes a picture look so good that it looks like crap. For me it takes away from the experience. Things look so detailed, it has that "soap opera" look and looks unnatural. When I did my review of the 4K for my YouTube channel, I got screenshots from both discs. I am glad they just used the HFR on 4K and not the BD. The BD looked amazing. I actually liked the movie and will never watch the 4K again. BD all the way! This is what has me scared of any future releases from Cameron. As long as we have been waiting for The Abyss, I am hoping the 4K does not get the HFR treatment. Watching Avatar 2 both in 3D and Dolby Cinema, the latter was better experience as I am not a fan of 3D. Both both presentations were distracting during many scenes due to HFR. The CGI in many scenes had that fake, video-game look. I am not that tech-savvy...are they able to present HFR on standard BD? or am I safe to say BD's are guaranteed to have the standard 24fps?
Again, I feel like I am in minority. I want all the depth and detail, but not at the expense of losing the cinematic feel. That is why I cannot watch anything on Amazon Prime. I do not know what they are doing with the streams, but they have that same look. I tried to watch a couple of movies and could not get through them as they were two distracting. To test, thinking my settings were off, I compared The Lost City on Prime and Paramount+. The Prime presentation had that HFR look and the Paramount+ version did not. I noticed the same thing when I sampled Apple TV earlier this year. Are they converting content to HFR or are they using some other manipulation? |

TL/DR Question
Just opened my U.S. 4K copy. Both discs are 100% blank white with absolutely no disc information or art. Out of 1000's of purchases, this is a first for me. This can't be by design. What gives? |

Maybe someone sold you a bootleg? I own it, and the UHD disc is black with the title and other information in white letters. The BD is blue with silver letters.

I'll send you my disc (regular disc, not steelbook) if you cover shipping, heh. I've watched the movie about 3 times already with the hope that I can come around to HFR, and to have it handy as demo material, but just don't like it enough to ever watch it again.
