Tough decisions to come. There are basically 3 TVs in the running for me this year...the 65" E6 OLED is certainly one of them. I just am NOT sold I can live the next 3-4 years with a 65" TV instead of a 75".

I just went from a 60" Plasma to a 70" 4K LCD and the size increase is awesome, but I really wanted to go with OLED (was waiting for the HDR mess to sort out). Now the 77" OLED seems the next logical upgrade but since it will cost the same as a used car I might have to "settle" for the 65" OLED instead.

Dutch Guild was yesterday. It was already sold out and the location wasn't nearby either for me.

Still fiddling with her, betting my settings right.
Tried the two usual HDR clips, they are nothing special in the slightest imoh
Just pump the brightness and contrast up
So still light side

Great, I am a Sony guy myself, I have a 40" LED 1080p 3D set (HX-753) and a new brand new player S4500. I have a PS3 and a PS4 too.

I am glad you still think Sony is the top of the class

I had no doubts about the picture quality. Have you pre-ordered a UHD Blu-ray player too? Or are you waiting for a UK release date?

Sony does make quality TVs. Last year, the 75 inch X940C was set up for evaluation at the Clubhouse which everyone seemed to admire.

As to your *indifference*….

Yes, I realized that, which is why I used the past tense ("was") in the 'Jérôme' paragraph of said post on the last page…

I’m wondering if Jérôme of ATEME was able to give a presentation.

He was quite good when last I heard him speak about Ultra HD Blu-ray last September in Amsterdam…..
http://www.scenarist.com/newsletters/ibc2015news3.html

as well as about 4K at a past SMPTE Technical conference in Hollywood.
My wife and I have really enjoyed Amsterdam every time we’ve visited. One year I even made it to Assen and still have a commemorative patch of the occasion. (Note to Doctorossi…it was with dirt rather than pavement ).

But I must say that I nearly fell off the boat when I heard (at least back then) how high a % of folks from the Netherlands partake in illegal video content. Good to see you’re a (legal) user with all your consumer activism in the promotion of the Blu-ray format(s).

Yes, I hate it too. But I do blame the movie companies as well:

-Ridiculous high prices sometimes here for Blu-rays
-I always import my Blu-rays. Better prices, better PQ/AQ, nicer Collectors Editions, Steelbooks etc.
-Different release dates around the world. A movie hits on Blu-ray in USA and here it just gets a theatrical release

-The Netherlands is in the top 10 of internet speeds
-No data limit for internet either
-And The Law isn't really a problem here either. Germany for example is tougher and you will get fines. Here you get fines as well, if you are a big uploader.
-Content licenses spread over serval VOD Companies is another thing. People just prefer one place for all their content.

But since Netflix came here available in 2013 and the content improved, Netflix is growing in the Netherlands. People do want to pay.

Since you know where Assen is, I live another 27 miles of Assen up to the North.

When I have more time maybe some day I'll dig out the patch and post a pic. Meanwhile, now if Opips would only reveal to us where he lives so we could get a true handle on that cat language.

Being a pretty hefty shareholder (at least wrt my personal investment portfolio), I follow them and they took a hit recently….http://www.bbc.com/news/technology-35429036

I’m always of mixed body parts with regards to Netflix. Heart is not much into them (being a physical media proponent and its inherent advantages in quality for home theater enthusiasts). Mind is a big supporter, for how they do….as it means $$ in my retirement fund.

I'm guessing a reference to the color grading done by the creators.
