Sigh. . . My two orders shipped on the 13th. One has been delayed daily since Monday and the other remains in pre shipment.

Mostly. The David Bowie/Giorgio Moroder track is the main draw, but the Moroder synth instrumentals are ace as well.

My decision came down to "70% for the actual music/"30% for the cover art and overall kitsch of it all."

That soundtrack is terrific. "The Chase" is a great instrumental. Morodor did a series of soundtracks around this time that are all worth picking up- "Midnight Express", "American Gigolo", "Flashdance" (Yes, pure kitsch, but still state of the art pop at the time), and "Scarface".

I've only got an entry-level turntable right now (Audio Technica LP60X). It is the best budget turntable out there, and I bought it mainly as a feeler to see how I would take to vinyl in my adult life, having not had a record player since childhood. I'll be upgrading it in the not-too-distant future with a better turntable where I can control the tracking, but it works well right now, especially with my Klipsch powered speakers.

(I've got about 1,200-1,500 CDs...and have bought and sold many times that during my life...but I've also accrued a handful of vinyl records over the years mainly for decorative and collector purposes. I decided a few months back to get a turntable to listen to them at long last, and now I'm addicted to something else.)

I used to collect movie posters in the 80s and at some point I picked up the purple variant of the movie poster. The red one was the one mostly used while mine had a purple background and possibly different letter coloring.

I still only have an old Sanyo from the 70s or 80s that my uncle gave me.. works great, but lately I've been thinking about buying something new as well. I like what U-Turn Audio are making but I'm not serious yet about buying so I haven't explored the market...

I like my mp3s and listen to them all the time, but playing an album on my home stereo.. whether it be on vinyl, cd or even cassette is a ritual that cannot be matched.

I love how the sleeve artwork for old vinyl records was the only “video” for the respective artists. Exile on Main St., The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars, Songs in the Key of Life, etc.

It's worthless... But I take it, I bury it in the sand for a thousand years, it becomes priceless... like the Ark. Men will kill for it. Men like you and me.

I've been collecting vinyl since 2011. It really is a unique experience amidst all the digital-ness of formats these days. Takes a bit of effort to listen to a record and, most times, it's only 1 or 2 songs (in my case) but it's the only way to listen to the kind of stuff I like. Much of it was never officially released on any format. But, frankly, I'm surprised that the resurgence is still strong and shows no signs of going away. I sincerely thought the new vinyl revolution would be short-lived. I love anything old-school so I'm glad it stuck around.

The First of what I'm sure will be more to come, but Amazon currently has Return of the Living Dead II for $14.53. I'm not sure I've ever seen a better deal on this one even with B2G1 sales, %15 off coupons, etc.

https://www.amazon.com/Return-of-the...=ATVPDKIKX0DER

Edit: Yes I know that these could go in a deals thread in the deals forum but with so much going on this next week these ensure the most exposure...

Critter's Collection at another amazing deal... $24.95

Second Shocktober Sale order finally arrived.

Ginger Snaps - No slip (didn't expect one)
Escape from L.A. - Slip
Misery - Slip
Silent Hill - Slip
Silver Bullet - Slip.

Not a bad haul overall, 13 titles in total.
