Glad I got my pre-order in. I missed out on FN, I'm not missing out on this.
+1 on it being uncool to buy multiple and sell them. You are depriving legit fans. There are plenty of better ways to make money. Just my opinion of course. |

Anyone who thinks or hopes the flippers will "eat it", or that the after market will be "flooded" really has no idea what they're talking about. I'm not speaking to anyone specific, but there's clearly a lot of comments hoping for the worst in the aftermarket. And that's just not possible.
It's really simple. Regardless of how many people buy multiple copies to re-sell, there's still only 3000 being made. At worst you have a short period where there's too many on Ebay to make a great profit (But profit nonetheless) but that goes away quickly. 3000 is still only 3000 regardless of where it's been sold. Even Journey To The Center Of The Earth, which took much longer to sell out than FN did, is sold for $80 to $90 on Ebay. And believe me, they do actually sell. |

Just because something is "rare" does not make it valuable. I've said before... Check back in 3-5 years and see where we are at. I'm still banking on being able to find one of these at a used bookstore by then from someone who bought multiple copies and can't clip them and wants to cut his losses by then when the bottom falls out. Things that are manufactured to be collectibles are seldom as sought after as genuinely rare things that people want later... these movies are manufactured collectibles, limited only because they say so... and yes, there are only 3000 copies. I have several comic books of which there are less than 2000 copies in existence... and I assure you they are very much worthless. Appropriate too, since some of them are EC reprints of the old classic EC Tales from the Crypt comics... you know, those comics that inspired things like Night of the Living Dead! Mark my words... these Twilight Time movies will only be "hot" for a short time. They will ALWAYS be rare, no doubt... but they will not be as heavily sought after once the hoopla dies down and people end up holding the hot potato last after having sunk a bunch of money into "investments"... Meanwhile, the people who actually wanted the movie will not care whether they have value or are worthless, because they like the movie itself and aren't interested in selling. |

There's no reason to believe that this won't follow in fright nights footsteps... Which is still routinely fetching $100-$150 a piece. |

I'm still confused about why all the anger is being directed at the re-sellers. I understand the view points of those who say that it prevents those who want this item to KEEP from getting one. However, the first news of this release was 3 months ago. And here we are 26hrs into the pre-order and (according to posts made here) there are still 1400+ copies left. That, to me, says that there are still plenty (relatively) of copies left for those who want them. So, if someone wants a copy at the $30 price tag, they still have time.
If you look at EBay right now, there is a copy of Fright Night with 15 bids that is currently bid over $100. So, someone (be it fan or "investor") wants this copy enough to pay more than 3x the original sale price. There is someone selling THIS NotLD release for $65 and it says that they have sold 2 copies. Someone wants this enough to pay more than 2x the asking price from the distributor. So, the buyers are already declaring what they are willing to pay. To me, that says that if TT were asking $60 for this on their site, there are people willing to pay it. Is it unfair to buy up multiple copies with the intent to make a profit? That's debatable. Is it sad that a true fan might miss out on a copy? Sure, but that is a risk of not "doing your homework". Simply put, as long as people are making the CHOICE to pay these prices for these items there is going to be someone to sell it to them. So, blame the buyer for being either dumb enough or "diehard" enough to agree to give up that much money. Once the customer stops agreeing to these jacked up prices, those looking for a quick profit will disappear. If you know a fan who would enjoy having this, then let then know while there is still time. |

I'm just glad to have this one Blu-ray. Considering what a limited run it is, I understand why they charge as much as they do. But I do think that if a title sells out in 5 weeks, they are leaving money on the table by only printing 3,000 copies. I'm sure a bunch of people would love to get their hands on a copy of Fright Night now that people are more aware of TT.
