I'm about 30 minutes in on my calibrated set. It's dark, but it's nowhere near as dark and un-detailed as this youtube video. Also, not seeing a blue push at all.

However, eventually a film you really like will or has already came along and had sprucing up done to the point of insanity and I'll ask you to think on those films and consider how or how it will make you feel.

I appreciate the effort, but this is probably going to mislead rather than inform. The proper caps posted here, and testimonies from people watching on calibrated sets that support the accuracy of said caps, do not look as bad as your video.

yeah, youtube killed the quality.. you can't compare a calibrated anything with a youtube video lmfao.

it's just a simple comparison showing the difference between the two. for me, the bluray is just a little brighter than the video shows but this it's still a fair representation of what i'm seeing.

i definitely see a blue tint while watching the bluray. barbara's skin has a purple tint during the scenes with the blue filters.

again, this is a simple comparison. i wasn't aiming for 1080p quality details. instead, i wanted to show the difference in color and brightness. this video does that just fine without being able to read the tag in her shirt.

I wasn't talking about detail. Look at the caps, they are not as dark or as blue as your video.

i'm sure we're all not using the same TVs with the same settings. everyone's pictures/videos are going to vary to some degree but that doesn't change the fact that it is what it is.

No, I read that and agree. I'm only saying that when we sit back and accept it we lose all our rights to protest against it. I've done as much myself, but as I start to take a hard look at what I have enjoyed about films from the past I see a trend to modernize the look of those films to make them acceptable to the current generations film fans. That is not something any film fan old or new should accept. If you want to clean the print up and restore the colors that's fine, just don't revise to make it modern. I know deep down you agree with me on that. In fact, I would bet nearly everyone on here who loves films would agree with me on that.

Yea, it definitely has that "saw", "untraceable", "dead silence" thing goin on now. that style is in a lot of other modern horror movies too... "Pulse", "the unborn"... The list goes on.

Completely agree. I wish it was as simple as just boycotting a release. The fact is we are a tiny minority of film enthusiasts who care when stuff like this happens. Most people don't notice. Look at Dracula (links below), it's been that way for half a decade now, with plenty of complaining (relatively speaking) and Sony never did anything. It's futile to not purchase; the fact is I hate the Dracula colors but I'll still sit down with the Blu-ray to watch the film because I'm an HD wh*re

I'm sure this 5.1 Sony has done was meant to be faithful, but apparently there are some missing sound effects. But no, any "5.1" isn't going to be the original audio. This was 2 channels in cinemas, matrixed to 4.

The argument with Bram Stoker's Dracula was that the DVD's had had the wrong coloring, and that the BD release fixed it.
