No, and no. Don May Jr. is owner of Synapse Films. He has been involved in the horror industry for decades and is a personal friend of Tom Savini. They have worked together on numerous projects. He took the initiative to contact Tom after reading about this debacle on the forums. Interestingly, he was the first to take that initiative.

I agree that the image has been altered at it does have a blue tint. I believe that the photographs people are posting probably look worse than what they look like on an actual television. The smaller an image, the darker it appears. That can be seen from this forum alone as the largest screen caps look the least extreme and the smallest ones look incredibly dark. The photographs are incredibly unreliable because of factors like type of displays and the coresponding viewing angles, use of flash, and resolution capabilites of the camera itself. Most of us haven't even recieved our copies yet myself included. And as someone point out earlier, many of our expectations have been tainted due to the influence of others opinions potentially preventing some from forming their own opinion.
I'll also say this. The only way I'll return my copy is if there is a replacement program. Otherwise, it's mine forever. If I like the picture better, great. If not, I'm still puting it in a 2 disc case along with the DVD I've owned for years and proudly adding it to my Romero Original/Remake collection. Maybe 3 years from now, Sony will have been inspired by the passion of the fans and release a newly remastered unrated cut with a transfer approved by Tom Savini and George Romero with newly produced HD featurettes and more attractive artwork. If not, I'll still have my copy. ![]() |

Twilight Time's limited editions mean anyone who wants one has to order before they go on sale (at least with titles likely to sell out) which means no-one can wait for reviews before buying. Begrudgingly offering a refund after denying there was a problem is not something that fills me with confidence for future releases or would everyone be okay with a purple '58 Plymouth Fury?
Many years ago when I started my first job, the first thing I was told was if you f*** it up you fix it. |
