The film definitely isn't as blue as that digital camera photo, but make no mistake it *IS* tinted inappropriately, and with a heavily blue tint. HD Goofnut's pictures are much closer. They are direct screen grabs. If they aren't close enough for you, then I suggest calibrating your computer monitor and stop accusing others. ![]() At this point HD Goofnut's screens are the most accurate, but of course anyone with the blu-ray can now check out the film vs the trailer on their own. The color differences are hugely noticeable |

Another thing I thought of, Twilight Time said this master was done in 2010. Does anyone know when this was added to services like VUDU and Amazon? The ones on those are in HD (1080P on VUDU, not sure about amz) and they have the proper lighting and no blue tint. Obviously two HD masters were made here, so I'm wondering which came first since we know the BD master is 2 years old.

It's more of a curiosity than anything. If the VUDU one came first, then they went back and revised it for the BD master. If the master used for the BD came first, then someone went back and corrected it for digital streaming. I'm guessing the former happened first though. I don't know why they'd do 2 HD masters in any event

I'm actually interested in watching the VUDU Hd source, and see how that compares. Although alot of times those "HD" sources are really just the DVD. I guess when they say HD they mean only in terms of internet compression ratios, and not necessarily that it actually is a 1080p source and scanned at 2k or 4k or whtever. |

Nothing right? That is one of the reasons they limit it to 3000. I don't think you get much as a creator until you sell a much bigger amount, although im sure someone like Spielberg gets a better deal.

To me Twilight Time are ultimately responsible for what they release. So even though they didn't necessarily have anything to do with the look of the film, they do get credit when they release something with perfect PQ and AQ - and they've had plenty of terrific releases. However if they release a blu-ray that is a failure, people's ire should be directed towards them, NOT Sony. They can't have it both ways where they get credited for terrific releases, but "excused" when things go awry. Twilight Time is the one that ultimately is commercializing these products, and thus they are responsible for what gets stamped with their label. At Sony these would just be "in-house" masters, so at some level Twilight Time comes between the consumer and Sony and must screen for quality control. They've done a really good job of that for the most part, but this is one release that perhaps slipped past them (albeit the issue here has more to do with the "accuracy" of the transfer than the quality of it). |
