I have seen VERY few people state that the caps are doctored. What I have seen is people (including myself) saying that its not completely accurate to what we are seeing on our television.

We sorted this out many many pages ago though.... With the whole differently calibrated computer screens thing

No i think the first guy's picture was just taken with a digital camera. He tried to take a picture of the plainly obvious tinting to show everyone how off the image is. That doesn't mean he was trying to deceive people, his digital photo just didn't work out like he thought.

The film definitely isn't as blue as that digital camera photo, but make no mistake it *IS* tinted inappropriately, and with a heavily blue tint. HD Goofnut's pictures are much closer. They are direct screen grabs. If they aren't close enough for you, then I suggest calibrating your computer monitor and stop accusing others.

At this point HD Goofnut's screens are the most accurate, but of course anyone with the blu-ray can now check out the film vs the trailer on their own. The color differences are hugely noticeable

For good or bad that's it I guess. I can live with it. Not thrilled but not horribly disappointed.
God i REALLY hope this is not the case, i hate this new dull blue transfer. Someone like arrow should release this in the UK, steelbook, maybe even BOTH versions of the film

But sadly i'm probably just dreaming

Another thing I thought of, Twilight Time said this master was done in 2010. Does anyone know when this was added to services like VUDU and Amazon? The ones on those are in HD (1080P on VUDU, not sure about amz) and they have the proper lighting and no blue tint. Obviously two HD masters were made here, so I'm wondering which came first since we know the BD master is 2 years old.

Whether if he did or didn't, he still would have been satisfied regardless. He's happy with it!

It's more of a curiosity than anything. If the VUDU one came first, then they went back and revised it for the BD master. If the master used for the BD came first, then someone went back and corrected it for digital streaming. I'm guessing the former happened first though. I don't know why they'd do 2 HD masters in any event

We see a lot of people (all over the Internet) predictably excusing and "loving" everything they do. On the other hand, there are people that are really nasty to anything associated with TT and appear to dislike everything they do. Overall, I think TT gets a lot more things right than wrong and their product is very good.
Well, it's sounding more and more like TT really has nothing to do with the transfer of the films they distribute at all. They put themselves at a discreet distance when the complaints rolled in on NOTLD90. Okay. Fine. But let's say Christine gets a get 1080p transfer with killer sound. Nobody at TT should be taking bows for the superlative transfer. I mean they have nothing to do with it. Right?

Nah. It's possible it would be "more of the same", but given the outrage they would probably do a 2nd look at those color timings if they were inclined to re-release it (or license it) elsewhere. I bet a subsequent release would be closer to what people were looking for out of this one. My understanding is it would not be a time consuming, or expensive, process at all to correct those issues. I think a fast sellout now makes it likely that SOMEBODY, somewhere else will license this film in the future. Especially in the UK. That goes for anything that quickly sells out it's 3000 allotment in the U.S (Fright Night, Journey, Mysterious Island, NotlD)

I'm actually interested in watching the VUDU Hd source, and see how that compares. Although alot of times those "HD" sources are really just the DVD. I guess when they say HD they mean only in terms of internet compression ratios, and not necessarily that it actually is a 1080p source and scanned at 2k or 4k or whtever.

As there seem to be a few self described "industry" people posting here, I was wondering if anyone knows roughly what Savini would get in royalties from these 3000 sales?

Nothing right? That is one of the reasons they limit it to 3000. I don't think you get much as a creator until you sell a much bigger amount, although im sure someone like Spielberg gets a better deal.

The Vudu was first. I has the same print speckles seen on the DVD and likely was from the 1997--2005 era. The print on the BD is from an aborted 20th anniversary 2010 release Sony never announced but intended to do.

For those who aren't sure if they want a black case for this release, this is what it looks like

I think we already knew that though. They just "select" the sources that Sony is making available for them to license. All studios have a "film preservation" department that to various degrees are constantly archiving and creating digital masters of their properties, so Twilight Time are basically just choosing off a shopping list (or wishlist) of films Sony/Fox can possibly make available to them for quick and easy transfer to blu-ray. Obviously some things are probably off limits. I'm sure Twilight Time can inquire about certain films not necessarily listed for them, and they must have some means to preview these possibilities before making choices about which ones to actually release.

To me Twilight Time are ultimately responsible for what they release. So even though they didn't necessarily have anything to do with the look of the film, they do get credit when they release something with perfect PQ and AQ - and they've had plenty of terrific releases. However if they release a blu-ray that is a failure, people's ire should be directed towards them, NOT Sony. They can't have it both ways where they get credited for terrific releases, but "excused" when things go awry.

Twilight Time is the one that ultimately is commercializing these products, and thus they are responsible for what gets stamped with their label. At Sony these would just be "in-house" masters, so at some level Twilight Time comes between the consumer and Sony and must screen for quality control. They've done a really good job of that for the most part, but this is one release that perhaps slipped past them (albeit the issue here has more to do with the "accuracy" of the transfer than the quality of it).
