There is no point with reasoning with these people any more. Stating the facts falls on deaf ears. I am going to move on and let the lunatics take over the asylum.

I think as has been said the Photographer changed the print, Tom loved it after seeing it. So really i cant see what all the continued argument is about to be honest.

PS
If TT have any returned opened copies that they might want to pass on............well .

The insinuations that Tom Savini got paid off to approve this release are laughable. He really had nothing to gain except to comment on the only major feature he's ever directed.

I didn't say hack, that was someone else. But he is absolutely a greedy fellow. An exact quote from Tom, after watching George Romero sign several things for me as we were leaving a bar: "Why don't you sign those tomorrow, George?!? You just lost five ****ing bucks each, man."

I'm a huge admirer of Tom's work, but I hate his 'tude towards fans.

I picked up the NOTLD 1990 DVD today from Suncoast for 5.99. The picture is preaty good and it's definitely daytime when the movie starts. They had the Fright Night DVD there too, but I think I'll wait to buy that one. Does anyone know how it looks (is it passable on an HD-TV)?

That truly is ridiculous. Anyways though, Tom Savini isn't hard to get a hold of. He makes public appearances all year round, and he's going to be at a convention this month. I'm sure a fan will get his word on this. Hopefully someone brings a portable BD player or laptop just in case he hasn't seen it yet.

Do you know Prinzi's exact role in this transfer? Do you know if he was there in person, whether he personally did the tweaks, merely overloooked them, or just was consulted (perhaps over the phone) for his opinion?

I think in most cases the DP and the person Authoring the transfer would be looking at a studio grade monitor and adjusting to the required final HD print.

PS
I am guessing that this is the process but very much simplified.

PS,PS.
Has anyone been able to contact the DP and get his thoughts as to why he did what he did to the transfer?

David if your looking in this is your field, if you can maybe explain better?

I just want to know the extent of his participation. I believe TT's wording was that he was in consultation with Sony. I'm not sure that means he was there in person truly supervising the whole thing.

That was over 15 years ago. When he signed my Grindhouse poster a couple years ago, he was charging $20 per sig.

Hell, if he was charging $5, I'd get ten things signed instead of just one.....if that's not short-sighted greed, I'd like to know what you'd call it....

What the hell does it matter anymore? The transfer's darker and blue-ish - move on. It's not like you can go out and buy it, anyway.

The vast majority of consumers have no idea this release has even come and gone. What is there left to discuss? Do we really need to track down and assign blame to the individual responsible? What good is that gonna serve?

Just wait a few years for the re-release and get on with your lives already.

That answer from TT probably means that he was directly involved as the changes that have been made are very noticeable and i can not believe that any studio would make them without any major involvment from someone from the movie, then just go ahead and release, as that would leave them wide open to all sorts of going's on.

As far as this movie being blue I don't care, but what the whole hubub has done will hopefully put some kind of quality control or awareness out there in the Twilight Time camp for future releases. If they released a movie that I actually liked and it was going to be the only blu ray of that film possibly ever released, I'd like to know what it looks like before getting too excited and plopping down 30 something bucks in order to get it seconds after it goes up for pre-sale.

As soon as TT refunds my sheckels, I'll let it go. And seeing as I just got email confirmation of signed-for acceptance of the package I sent back, we'll see just how good their word about refund offers were.

Which brings up a good point. Everybody, including myself, pulled the trigger on this Blu-ray sight unseen in fear of not being able to uptain it later. It would have been great if we all just chilled out and waited for a proper review so some of us could have adjusted our plans accordingly. But the pre-order madness will happen again probably with Christine. It would be great it fans could come to some unspoken agreement when it comes to TT. Wait for the review, then order.
