Let me point you to an important word used in my previous post. "Significant". Also don't miss "not photos".

No it's not too blue or too dark. It's just your tv is not calibrated correctly or you're not using the correct mode.

Sorry, didn't want it to be too one sided. Because we totally know that nobody has yet made that argument

No offense, but do you actually own all of the discs you have addressed and have you watched them? Or do you go by screenshots? I know you love to address them.

Specifically in the case of Traffic I can tell you for a fact that additional work was done because I had a pretty lengthy conversation with a person who knows exactly what was done. Using the same (Uni) master for a transfer that you would use on a release does not mean that the results will be identical. And, yes, Criterion do additional work.

QUADROPHENIA -- Sorry. You clearly do not not know what you are talking about. I have the Criterion and the UK discs with me at the moment, and projected these two are thousands of years apart from each other. And yes, the Criterion release looks beautiful. So, your Meh comment is quite a bit off.

Finally, Fear and Loathing..., you are off again. Because Criterion did go in to do additional corrections. Again, I am telling you this as a fact, because unlike some other folks who tend to open their mouths to criticize, I do check details beyond what a booklet will 'confirm'.

As far as TT's release is concerned, there really should be very little drama here. Instead of people going around in circles and posting non-sense, someone should have asked how come no one bothered to run a quick comparison with the answer print the studio has. It should not be rocket science to figure out exactly how the film was shot.

Pro-B
ONCE AGAIN, your so prolific with your points

I own all discs mentioned above myself. The 'Quadrophenia' discs are like night to day. Give me the Criterion version any day

Once again, I say to you...you never should lead with 'No offense', these are always open to debate & if you have superior knowledge of the subject I say post it. There shouldn't be any offense taken if its the truth or even just ones opinion....thats just my opinion

Goofnut posted a comprehensive set of frames you can view by clicking the link in the quote above. Not only are these images direct from the disc, they also matched most of the ones posted before them that I ever saw.
Then you didn't look hard enough, I saw every single post and screenshot. HD Goofnuts images were late to show, they didn't get posted up until like 3 days or so after the 1st images were seen. The 1st images that I saw which closely represent the disc correctly were from member Psicon, which come before Goofnuts. Even some members that I trust, such as Clark Kent and a few of the Mods, including Blu Titan, said that even though it's not great, it wasn't as bad as some of the 1st really early screenshots that were posted up.

Are you talking about frame grabs, or photographs of televisions (with Blu-ray progress bar at the bottom)? Photographs can just be tossed out outright...when I say screenshots I am meaning frame grabs from the disc. The earliest pictures I saw looked like frame grabs, which had the Blu on one half and the DVD on the other. Are you saying those were in fact modified? Because that can be verified against the true frame grabs.

It's really a shame how bluray.com continues to allow for what's basically character assassination along with SELECTIVE post deletions. TT are still called @$$holes elsewhere in this thread, and Savini gets accused of shilling for a few comp blu rays, which we all know is pure hypocrisy: those same people calling him a shill wouldn't be doing so if he agreed with them.

I've been in the business for nearly 20 years and this place has become a true disappointment, because it's clear the Mods here are biased towards the attacks on TT and Savini.

Many of the early shots weren't from frame grabs, they were photographs. That's the point, because if the 1st images posted up were Psicon's or Goofnut's, then the panic the come before their images made an appearance wouldn't have been half as bad. A lot members were going crazy over photographs (some from poorly calibrated displays) that they were taking as truth because there were so few images available at the time. Those images shouldn't really have been allowed to be posted up in the 1st place, because they didn't represent the source accurately, and were responsible for a large part of the frenzy that took place. Also, the YouTube video that was posted up during the early stages of discovering the issue was one of the 1st references that members had to go off, some of the screenshots were even taken from it. That YouTube video isn't an accurate represent of the disc, just look at the front of the truck, all the detail is lost to black crash.

I don't even know why you and I are apparently arguing about anything...
You will find absolutely no argument from me about the fact that posting photographs of TVs is a terrible idea. Here are things you will find me arguing:

- This thread has had a significant number of screenshots in it that were not altered.
- Suggesting, even alluding to, otherwise is factually incorrect.

I don't know how far back you went, but here are where I see the first pictures rolling in, and these appear to be screenshots, unaltered.

Psicon and auz (I believe the original source of the one quoted above) post more screenshots, people post photos, more screenshots, etc. The video does not show up until some time later.

I doubt any of the photographs were altered either, they're just a piss-poor basis for any discussion.

I even doubt that video was altered, outside of unavoidable compression by YouTube or the software that rendered it (which as you can see completely eradicated the [still dark] detail in the truck's grill).

Regardless, all of them -- photos, screenshots, videos -- do convey a drastic difference between the other home video releases and this Blu-ray.

Yeah, I just jotted it down because I saw the thread pop up again. I can't speak bad about anybody or anything because it's all subjective, but I was really surprised that it's still kind of going...

SOOOOOOOO

who's seen the HDX version of the film on Vudu?

I'm considering checking it out, but I haven't had the time to look into whether you're paying for a one-time streaming rental (and it's like $11), or if you get to download and own it. But it's HD with apparently the older color timing, so I'm interested in checking it out. Better than picking up the DVD for comparison at any rate.
