Yeah, I am definitely not spending what those scalpers are charging for a zombie film that I haven't even seen. I can't wait to pick it up though at a reasonable price on DVD.

What I find interesting is that this NOTLD90' will likely go up in value over time even though it's been bashed. Why? Because future blu-ray releases will likely retain the look of the DVD and this TT release will probably be the only one of it's kind after the horrific back-lash Sony and TT have received. This TT release will remain a curiosity. Horror fans (I am one, so I mean no disrespect) and Sci-fi fans buy all kinds of useless crap out of curiosity and tend to be willing to pay outrageous prices for it.

I very highly doubt this color timing will ever be used again. There's bad reception, there's awful reception and then there's NOTLD90' reception which equals utter outrage and disgust almost universally and is the source of the Smurf joke whenever the topic of revised color timing is brought up.

I could be wrong, obviously, but if my theory is correct, there will only be 3000 copies of NOTLD90' with this transfer in existance. People will likely want to buy it just for the sake of owning it especially since the transfer isn't actually bad in all area's. If not for the changed color timing, it's a solid upgrade in resolution and detail over the DVD.

Horrific backlash, utter outrage and disgust.....from a bunch of fans on an internet forum. Sony could give a rat's ass what a group of diehard outraged zombie movie fans think. Just because you have read so many posts in this thread filled with outrage doesn't mean the feeling was near universal. It doesn't mean anything at all. The blu-ray sold out. It was a win for Sony and for TT. If it gets re-released at all after the three year exclusive window, it is just as likely Sony won't change a thing.

I actually like the transfer. It's not without it's issues but it's not as big a disaster as people make out. It's darker than the DVD - good, I always felt it did look a little bright.

That said, it's a pretty crap movie. Not a patch on the original and I've only really got it for completeness sake as I've got all the other '..Dead' movies.

Finally had a slipcover made to cover that horrible artwork. The back is just the TT artwork in black and white.

Besides writing he was barely on set at all. He was in Florida writing "The Dark Half" during the shoot and post production.

To add; Savini and Romero had a big falling out over production of this movie. Producers were making Savini's time difficult and were saying one thing to Romero (over the phone) and another to Savini. There's an interview online were Savini goes into detail. They only really started talking again when both burried the hatchet as they were both getting requests for audio commentaries and knew they would have spend time together for them. Glad it all turned out well in the end.

Tl;dr this movie went through production hell and Romero had little involvement.

You can attribute that to the great man himself, John A. Russo. A true (HACK!!) class act.

This isn't a bad remake. Tom Savini did a really good job on this. This is the only movie I know that the remake beats the original. Hopefully if enough people reply and complain about this they will release a new transfer and not have a limited release in a few years time. So far there is 6738 comments. Keep it coming.

I wouldn't count on a new transfer anytime in the near future.

It's true. But Russo IS a nice guy, he's just no where near the great filmmaker he thinks. He's not Romero, and truth be told, I think that entire crew has been jealous of Romero's success. Can you blame them? He gets basically all the credit as the director of NOTLD, but in every commentary and documentary you can see just how collaborative it was. They never made any money off a classic they created, had no other real success, and Romero is a millionaire genre legend....it makes people bitter. Regardless, he's the one with the talent. Russo has a filmmaking school near my hometown and I cringe everytime I hear about someone going there.
I hope to see another release of the remake too, with the original color. I think it's a great movie.

They're limited to 3,000 copies. What do you expect? lol All of Twilight Time's releases are limited. Some just sell out more quickly than others.

I know, I just have to keep up with their releases better.
Luckily only Oliver! is on my radar right now.
Missed this, missed Fright Night.
Not just these though, other genre things I have looked at are out of print now and driving me crazy.

This one doesn't sell for anywhere near the price of fright night. If you really want it, you can find a used copy for $10-$15 more than the original price.
