It does a great job of playing with your expectations and giving you something completely different instead (the graveyard "bait and switch" attack is great). Has a really good score too.

No doubt in my mind. They key is to get it on release day otherwise you'll be stuck on ebay paying double for it.

That's what they normally do - right at a month before release. Since the 9th is a Sunday, I assume pre-orders start the Friday before or the following Monday.

The remake acts better as pure entertainment for modern audiences. You simply couldn't get away today with Barbara's characterization in the original. The actual zombie action is vastly improved because people knew what audiences expected of their actions by the time of the remake. The original is a more important film, but the remake surpasses it with the benefit of twenty years' worth of progress in makeup and a larger budget.

True, but a lot of gore was cut out of the movie because the MPAA was cracking down on horror movies at the time of the theatrical release.

Sony should have released a Tom Savini director's cut with all of the gore footage restored into the movie in HD instead of the over-priced barebones theatrical version from Twilight Time.

I am sorry but better makeup and more money doesn't necessarily mean better film.

Sony didn't bother to do it on DVD, so a BD release was even less likely. But yeah, it would be nice if this TT release was uncut. It would add more collectibility to it for sure.
