It is against the rules only if a member is trying to promote his own auction . Usually there's a trend for people who do this.

Like I said to the other guy posting all these links, I know I am not a mod but in some of the threads I read quite often they get deleted almost immediately so I assumed there was a no link period rule, but its good to know, I guess some really like looking at that crap(all these ebay links posted) personally I would rather read about the release, so I guess it would be good to just steer clear of this thread until we get these in our hands.

Thanks again Blu Titan for clearing that up for me.

Can't say that I disagree with anything you have posted . If this thread becomes about linking to ebay, then we will start removing them.

I did some sleuthing and I believe that ebay user selling these "gghorror" goes by the name "RebelPhoenix" on here. I gathered this info from DVDtalk.com who has flagged him as a scam seller: http://forum.dvdtalk.com/dvd-exchang...hellhound.html

His last post in this thread doesn't exactly paint a pretty picture of his line of thinking either:

I know this is a long shot but thought I'd throw it out there: I would gladly trade my copy of NOTLD for Fright Night. PM if interested.

Where were these people a few days ago when this was still for sale? Are people actually discovering this release through ebay?

Yeah. I think a bigger issue here that leads to eBay purchases is that there is no marketing with twilight time releases. If you don't know about the system you will only once they end up on eBay. Hence why titles like as good as it gets don't sell out (people interested in the title don't know it exists) and why notld sells out (younger demographic and tech savy buyers aware of tt)

Not everyone reads Blu-ray.com. Thousands of fans are going to be discovering in the next month or two they completely missed out on this BD. Remember the general level of angst on other forums surrounding Fright Night, once it sold out? That was what led to the debate about Twilight Time's business model.

Yeah. If they didn't have to stick to 3000 units, there would be big money to be made at horror conventions.

Althought it doesn't excuse the buyer from conducting their own research (googling) it doesn't help that the sellers are clearly lying about the availability (OOP) of a majority of the TT titles too. Unfortunately, the average eBay buyer most likely "trusts" the seller which is clearly a flaw in their thinking.

Good work. How does his scamming work? He agreed to a trade and then sends nothing?

Actually(and im damn sure not defending them) but they aren't lying. Most of the auctions aren't lying about the in stock TT titles being out of print. That is why technically they aren't doing anything against any rules. They simply list the titles and tell the truth, just leaving out the fact there there is this other obscure site where you can buy it for half the price. When people read that something is a limited edition with only 3000 copies, those crazy prices don't look so crazy I guess. Then they check all the major sites and it isn't listed so they assume it is worth that price.

I'll acknowledge all sellers aren't doing it but let's use the seller in the previously posted links. Are you saying Bye Bye Birdie, Enemy Mine, Bell Book and Candle, Pal Joey, and Demetrius and the Gladiators are all OOP; not to mention Christine which has yet to be put up for preorder? He even lists Porky's (which will be released on Tuesday as a Walmart exclusive) and School of Rock (a BestBuy exclusive) as also being OOP. The titles may be exclusive or limited in number but they certainly doesn't make them OOP. To me, saying something is OOP when it's not is lying. I guess the new craze is to use OOP, limited edition, and exclusive interchangeably.

LOL why is he trying to break even? Same guy was taking pre-orders for NOTLD. He sold like 9 of them for 48 to 50 bucks a piece. After he buys the item, pays ebay fees, paypal fees and then ships it out he will only have a 5 dollar profit.
Theoretically, he can change the shipping address before it ships and that should take care of the shipping hassle.

He is the only one doing that though. Again not that the guys not it are heroes either.

Since this sold out faster then Fright Night I think the general demand for this movie is higher. This means it will be more valuable and more sought after. Which means higher prices. I think in a couple months you will see this being sold online for more then $150.00 dollars.

Zombies are in right now. A lot of people probably missed their chance to buy this movie. I could see this movie going for more then $200.00 by next year.

I think the percieved demand is higher. Most people here feel that what happened with Fright Night is directly responsible for the rate at which NOTLD '90 sold. It's very possible that the extra copies won't sell.

Who knows? I got mine.
