IF they care about fans... they really need to send out some reviewer copies early so that people who want to buy know what to expect.

There have been some transfers that people were unhappy with, and once that word gets out it will be hard for you to re-sell your $35 purchase to someone who knows the transfer is poor... so you assumed all the risk by pre-ordering sight-unseen.

I'm not saying all their movies are crap transfers... in fact, from the reviews it sounds like only a couple of them have been less than people wanted... but still, each new movie is a crapshoot since you don't know how much the studio put into the transfer they deliver to Twilight Time.

This site usually reviews TT titles a week before release... Or at least the week of release. So there should be time to get a review and then buy. Unless this sells out in 2 weeks... Not sure if it's going to be that quick though.

That being said, if you (in the general sense of the word) are a big fan of the movie, it's a pretty safe bet that this will be the best you'll ever see it on a home video format so you might as well buy it. And as you said, they usually turn out very good to amazing transfers. I'd say their success rate as far as PQ is concerned is about 90% positive. Demetrious and the gladiators is the only subpar transfer I can think of... But this being a fairly recent movie, too much restoration shouldn't be needed to make this look good.

I'm not really sure what a "real" fan is anyway....

There's more than enough copies for the die hard fan and casual fans alike
If you're a big fan of the film you'll pick it up 100%, not teeter on the fence. If you're teetering you're probably not a big enough of a fan to spend the extra coin on a limited edition bare bones release. Therefore, leave that copy for someone who is more of a fan.

IMO

I would extend that statement to include people who buy multiple copies to resell for profit. IF you are a true fan, just buy yourself one copy and let other true fans have a chance to get theirs too. Don't buy 5 copies with the intent of reselling 4 once the movie sells out.

Who says you have to be a huge fan to enjoy a movie? I've actually never even seen this movie but im picking it up because I like the genre and I know i'll enjoy the movie.

What does price have to do with anything? Believe me.... even a lot of the die hard fans wont want to spend $30 on a barebones release. so if youre saving all these copies for only the die hard fans, they will be sitting in a warehouse collecting dust.

My point is, its there for the picking. There is more than enough time for the die hard fans to pick it up before it sells out. and more than enough copies to go around. It's not like its going to sell out within minutes of the preorder going up on the site. I'd think it will be available for at least a month..... If you really wanted it and didn't pick it up by then... Oh well...

It's just kind of ridiculous to suggest to someone not to buy something, IMO.

Sorry if this has been asked before, but when should I look on TT site to see when to pre-order? I don't want to miss this one.

I wish Sony worked this out with Mill Creek instead. It would have been cheaper, and there's a greater likelihood of extras being included.

It will go up mid-September. Stay tuned to this thread for the exact date.

I apologize if this has been answered already, but is Amazon going to be selling this? If not, where can I get it?

Initially, it will be available exclusively at Screen Archives:

http://www.screenarchives.com/index.cfm

Eventually, it might end up on Amazon, available thru Screen Archives as a third party seller.

I was wondering if Twilight Time's B-ray transfers are usually good? The only one I've seen is "Fright Night" and I did think it looked pretty great, but that is obviously an 80s' classic and sometimes I feel like the more popular the movie, the more attention it gets (not always). Or is it up in the air bc the studios do the transfer? Just thought TT might demand a certain level of quality since they're a little pricey. I just don't want to have unrealistic expectations because I'm really, really excited for this one.

The transfer is done by Sony, and they usually do a pretty solid job so I wouldn't worry about it.

I do like the cover for NOTLD , but I agree with you on Enemy Mine...Looks like the work of a high school art student.

Horrible cover, but it's not like Twilight Time is worried about how the case will look on retail shelves.

Yikes, that's pretty hideous.

If there's no extras ported over, I may not pick this one up. I absolutely love 1990 NOTLD, but megh.
