You need to tell Savini what Sony/TT did to his film.

not sure I know what you are talking about??
hasn't it been established now that TT just puts out what they are given by Sony? are you saying you think TT does their own work on the materials they are given--like changing the color timing? everything I have read about TT indicates that they do not do work such as this. do you have other info?? ![]() |

If it was indeed considered defective, then that would be a different story. I wasn't really considering that possibility. ![]() I just think TT went with what they were given, and considered it correct. that's just my speculation--nothing more. ![]() EDIT--@hyper--I don't see "everyone" dumping on it; seems like many posts have said they think it looks fine. that is the source of some of the confusion from my viewpoint. Twilight Time won't even admit there's anything wrong with it. Their response on Facebook...
"Well, the Blu-ray is an accurate representation of the transfer...obviously things like bright/dark levels are utterly subjective. The transfer was undoubtedly approved by the filmmakers. It seems that the Sony tech team and the filmmakers preferred a closer match to dusk and night. It may be that the filmmakers felt the day-for night shots work better darker..." So, in a nutshell, don't expect them to do anything about it. |

Since this a limited edition and there is severe scrutiny over what Twilight Time releases. You would think someone at TT would do a comparison of the DVD and the transfer supplied to do a QC. This obviously has been colorized. This doesn't even have anything to do with color timing. The film looks completely different. Someone had to have authorized these changes.

@blu--yeah I will be watching my copy asap now that all this confusion is now raging.
I've never owned the dvd, so I guess I won't be able to do a direct comparison, but, of course, I am seeing these screencaps that are being posted. It is a somewhat perplexing situation if the differences are indeed as dramatic as they appear in those shots. but then again, a few posters have already posted that the difference does not look quite as pronounced. So I am not quite sure what to think. Last edited by Arkadin; 09-30-2012 at 12:27 AM. |

I agree. The entire transfer is WAY too dark, which is just one of the reasons why this bd looks like a low res dvd-upconvert at best. So far the only upside is the somewhat improved audio. I feel pretty ripped off, and I'll be letting TT know. Regardless of who's responsible for the transfer, TT are the ones that got my $30 for a piss-poor release.
