How does the color scheme of the scene shown in the screenshot on the back of the case compare to what's on the actual disc? Can someone post a screenshot? If they don't match up, something is obviously wrong with the transfer.

I have to think that most of the people here and elsewhere who are saying it looks ok... are just not that familiar with the movie. Ive seen it a hundred times... I know every damn frame of this movie. This movie was never BLUE. This is a **** up. Plain and simple.

Heres an example about what im saying... the whole Lord of the Rings debate where there was a green tint or whatever. I didnt notice it. Im not a huge LOR fan so I had only seen the movies once.

The fact is this is not how the movie has EVER looked. There are HD copies of it that look NOTHING like this. This is a **** up.

Out of curiosity, when did you put in your order, when it first went up for sale, at about the half way mark, or closer to it selling out? And were you one of the 1st to get a "your item has shipped email"?

I'd like to hear Savini's take before making any conclusions.

That.

Will Savini be criticized if this is how he wants it to look now? Just a question, not a challenge, by any means.

I used to rent this on VHS back in the day and have owned the DVD for many, many years. It's one of my favorite movies to watch over and over. I even rewatched it twice last week, once with and without commentary. I'll be getting my copy on Monday and look forward to seeing it for myself. I really, really hope you're wrong and some people are just getting bad copies. Either way, I hope the problem is fixed.

My order was at 3:58 on the pre-order day and I got my email on Thurs around 5pm

I don't recommend re-calibrating the video settings on your HDTV for one movie, if the settings have been previously calibrated correctly. Obviously the movie is the problem, not the video settings.

He sure would, just like Friedkin's approved transfer of The French Connection was lambasted. Thankfully he came to his senses for the signature treatment release.

I've never owned the dvd, so I guess I won't be able to do a direct comparison, but, of course, I am seeing these screencaps that are being posted. It is a somewhat perplexing situation if the differences are indeed as dramatic as they appear in those shots. but then again, a few posters have already posted that the difference does not look quite as pronounced. So I am not quite sure what to think.
Then again some of those same posters have mentioned they had to tweak their settings so it would look better. If their set was set correctly to begin with, not to mention calibrated, you shouldn't have to do that.

Would like to officially hear from Sony or Savini i regards to this change.

Can someone take some proper caps of this? Both before the blueness appears and after. 1080p uncompressed ones.

Thanks

Someone authorized these changes. I don't think it is fair to the fans of this film. There are only 3,000 copies and people have been excited about this release for months. Whenever a filmmaker or studio decides to make drastic color moves, prospective collectors should be informed. The Universal DVD release of "The Car" is an example. The main title sequence was drastically opened up, lightened and ruined. Even the credits shifted from blue to green. If Screen Factory gets the rights to release a Blu of "The Car" I hope they correct the color error.

Totally agree. It will be interesting to see how many people will question his artistic intent if he did infact approve this BD transfer.

I'd like to see a cap of the scene shown on the back of the box. I suspect that the color scheme will be entirely different, which will prove this is a bad transfer. It will also be proof that what was advertised by Twilight Time is not what was delivered.

The blueness/darkness begins when the zombie attacks them at the cemetery.

I knew there was something wrong when I watched it earlier.
