Releasing actual screencaps of movies before they are released on Blu-Ray would greatly decrease the chance of something like this happening. Stores give out free samples and dealerships let you test drive the car, buying a Limited Edition blind leaves too many factors up in the air.

Probably worth keeping in mind... A lot of people here (and elsewhere I'm sure) invested in this movie by purchasing multiple copies... assuring themselves they could profit because of what happened with Fright Night's sellout.

So... there are a LOT of people who need this to be ok... who don't want "the transfer sucks" to be the mantra... so DO expect people who bought multiple copies to chime in on everything they can come up with to say how it doesn't look bad to them.

I own the DVD... I've seen it on premium satellite... but I don't have a Twilight Time Blu-ray to compare. IF it looks as bad as has been shown, that is either a horrible encoding error OR someone tinkered purposefully and hoped nobody would complain.

I can't believe it is the desired look, though, because the darkness obscures lots of detail when compared to other screen captures. That's a lot of wasted work for people like Savini IF the darkness is not going to show the detail in your work... so I'd be surprised if Savini likes it.

I have said before that I hope the speculator-investor crowd doesn't break the system... but speculator sellout + bad transfer... that could be hard for Twilight Time to recover from. They have been building a reputation for at least having quality product, most of us questioned the price and the business model but usually not the quality of the transfer.

Not having a quality transfer, but commanding a premium? That's the kind of thing that can kill a company like this that is trying to survive on a limited press run model.

It's compounded by what I've noted before... that they don't provide advance screener copies, so people have to buy sight-unseen... and this is the kind of pandemonium that will stop those pre-orders for the next title cold.

I knew there was something wrong when I watched it earlier.
So is it just a sudden transition from normal to blue? Or does it start with a new scene, or chapter or whatever?

I've been offline for half a week and didn't know these were being send out, so I was very surprised when I saw that little package of joy sitting in my mailbox.

Shall watch tomorrow...

I just popped this in... the first 5 minutes are ok...then it turns blue. BLUE. Not a darkening of the image...not turning bright day scenes into a Dusk type scene... its BLUE.

Blue.

Heres an example about what im saying... the whole Lord of the Rings debate where there was a green tint or whatever. I didnt notice it. Im not a huge LOR fan so I had only seen the movies once.

The fact is this is not how the movie has EVER looked. There are HD copies of it that look NOTHING like this. This is a **** up.
These kind of posts coming from you is exactly what causes arguments. Try to be a bit more diplomatic, which could help lead to a few answers about this issue and understanding what has happened. It might not be because others haven't seen the film before, instead maybe half of the 3000 copies are defective some how, where the other half are not. If so, then maybe you have a defective copy in our possession . Either way, by you making post like theses certainly isn't helping the situation.

If what people are saying is true, that the color switches when the zombie first attacks or when Barbara gets back in the car, then maybe the whole "dark, sick-blue" transition is... symbolic. Hah, j/k.

It's not an issue with defective copies. Twilight Time has already acknowledged that the print is blue. They claim it was sent to them that way by Sony and must have been a director approved use of "day to night" filtering. What's funny is that none of the previous versions have looked like this. Not the theatrical version. Not the VHS version. Not the laserdisc version. Not the DVD version. Not the HD version broadcast on television. But we are supposed to believe this is a proper transfer.

I didnt notice it myself until Barbara got in the car after the attack...I noticed it was getting darker but not the blue. The bluish was subtle at first and then by the time she reaches the farmhouse it looks like a smurf wiped his *** with this transfer. If you go to the opening credits, while they are driving down the road, then skip to the next chapter...it's a world of difference.

You can confirm it yourself. Go to their Facebook page and look at the "recent posts by others" section. You'll find a couple of lengthy threads of complains and comments from Twilight Time explaining that there is "no issue" with the disc.

If enough people threaten to return it, you watch how fast they fix it. Looks to me like someone at Sony passed off the wrong print.

There's no sudden change like everything magically turns blue. It's a lot less drastic then that. To me it just looked like it was getting darker outside. I suggest everyone view it for yourselves and see how you feel about it. Then keep it, sell it or send it back it doesn't effect my being ok with it one bit.

Unless Savini approved it. If the darkening and tint are gradual as has been described, then it sounds purposeful.

Aliens and Terminator never looked (as far as I know) like they are on the new Blus which are approved by Cameron.

I understand that, however that doesn't explain why some are claiming they are not experience the issue to the extent of others. You can't just straight up accuse people of not having their equipment calibrated correctly when you don't know. Some of the screen shots that are being posted up are extremely blue in colour, so unless these people have altered the screenshots, then an error has likely occurred somewhere along the line. Maybe the transfer is supposed to be darker compared to the DVD, and that's how TT received it from Sony, but what some people are seeing might not represent what TT have seen of the transfer. A new colour timing, and a darker image is one thing, but blue images that look like toilet cleaner is a different story altogether.
