Wow. Thank you posting that. That looks horrid. Did Sony remember that this was the 1990 color version? They weren't supposed to attempt in converting it back to two colors like the original...

Star Wars has never looked quite the same either. So either Tom Savini is the new George Lucas or this is a color correction error.

I remember that scene, and it looks that way on VHS, LD, and DVD. That scene takes place when it is still daylight outside, and the house still has electricity. There's no way it could be that dark considering those factors. Not to mention so blue.

Wow. That is just...bad. Oh well, looks like I'll be returning my copy for a refund. I'll stick with the DVD for the next three years until Twilight Time's rights expire.

Re: the camera comparison.
To get anything approaching the DVD from the blu I have to change the tv setting to Sport Mode. Even then it's more muted. I actually prefer the color in sport mode but it has sharpness added, too.

I just pulled my Amazon listing. . . .I may be a greedy prick, but I'm not that much of a greedy prick. I refuse to sell this crap.

My full order is being returned, so any of you who still feel you "missed out" may yet have a shot to buy this from Twilight Time/SAE.

Yeah, funny how that crowd got quiet. Those pictures of it actually on a TV tell me all I need to know. Twight Time better refund every dime of my money including the cost of shipping it back to them. This is REALLY going to hurt their business going forward. I'm watching my DVD now and it'll do just fine until this gets a proper release. What a shame. I was really looking forward to this.

Justin Ray
Have you ever watched Capra's American Madness? Well, I won't retell the whole film, but an interesting event happens when ONE person shoots off a bit of gossip. Once word spreads (incorrectly, I might add), a mob clusters, chaos breaks out, and an honest, friendly business faces an unfair amount of criticism that, again, started with ONE brief snippet of "information." LONG STORY SHORT: I know you wouldn't sell faulty merchandise, and from the past Sony transfers, I doubt they would. While the transfer may look different than the original (at least from the screen caps I've seen), it still looks detailed, and no matter what, you've always got my monetary and moral support!!! Thanks again for everything you do for so many film fans

Twilight Time DVD Label
Appreciate that Justin, and American Madness is the perfect metaphor...the NOTLD transfer is completely in keeping with Sony's traditional high specifications. If the film has had its color or brightness changed in any way, that was most likely at the filmmakers' request...they are usually asked to sign off on the transfers...

Not the theatrical version. Not the VHS version. Not the laserdisc version. Not the DVD version. Not the HD version broadcast on television. But we are supposed to believe this is a proper transfer.
I surmised, that my theory was right after all.

If that is their stance, they really shouldn't be in the blu-ray business. Hey TT, stick to releasing CDs, you're obviously not cut out for blu-ray distribution.

Not really because, Twilight Time has done nothing wrong, if the filmmaker approved the transfer to be released on blu-ray. The anger should be directed towards the filmmaker, not the distributor. Twilight Time is innocent!

Actually it sounds like them covering their ass. I highly doubt Savini approved this horrid mess of his work. You're also kidding yourself if you think every (living) director signs off on the BD release of one of their movies.

Take a look at the screenshot on the back of the Blu-Ray case. Now load the disc and take a look at that scene. If the colors don't match up, Twilight Time has some explaining to do.

They've done something wrong by blowing off all of their customers complaints so quickly before actually checking to see if there is something valid to all of the criticisms they're getting on Facebook.

Notice how RoclockCK(aka Bruce Pullam) is all in TOTAL favor of the darker image of NOTLD in TT thread. As I said there are some people who will just love whatever TT does and are like the ultimate butt kisser.
If it turns out there was a mistake in the transfer maybe they should do a recall. ,,darker or lighter it should be how the filmmakers wanted it

I wouldn't be surprise if he did because, filmmakers have a tendency to make changes to their films. It happens all the time.

Images on the back of a DVD or bd cover aren't usually screen caps. They come from publicity materials.
