I gotta think that those of you who are ok with how it looks, just arent super familiar with the movie. Thats not a dig or anything. If i had only seen the movie once or twice I probably wouldnt have noticed. The fact remains that despite anyones preferences, this isnt how the movie has ever looked. That should be the end of the argument right there.

Anyone have a ps3? Jump onto the VUDU video service, rent their 1080p download of Night of the Living Dead '90 for 3 bucks. You will see an HD version of the movie as it has Always been since its theatrical run. No colors changed. It has only been changed for this bluray release.

I respect when you guys say you prefer how it looks now But you gotta agree that a film should not be altered in the first place. Especially when the film has been out for over 20 years looking a certain way. I get if you arent a super fan of it, it wont matter to you. Ill take the A Time to Kill approach here for you guys. Close your eyes.... now imagine its Your favorite movie thats been altered.

It doesn't look so bad on it's own but it looks too dark. The Blue tint is distracting...

This kind of reminds me of Escape From New York on blu-ray and a lot were saying it's too dark. Picked it up and it looked just fine. So I guess I'll see in a few days when it arrives.

Anyone hoping for an exchange will be disappointed. Here is what I wrote to Screen Archives

Quote:
Dear Screen Archives,

I'm sure your well aware that there is a huge controversy regarding the
change in color to the Night of the Living Dead blu ray release. After
viewing the disc I have to agree with others that there was some problem
with the transfer on this disc. I am writing only to ask you to please
confer with Sony to make sure there wasn't a mistake with this release.
I love this movie and I really don't want to return it, but if a mistake
was made I would love Sony to correct the mistake and there be an
exchange program. Thank you for your time.
and this is the response I received

Quote:
There will be no new pressings of this disk - you are more than welcome to send it back for a full refund if you wish - kind regards - Ed

As of now they don't have any plans but I'm sure with enough complaints they will do one.

I am going to watch my copy tonight and see how I feel about it.

If all 3000 were returned, it would be a good start for the studios to learn at last (!), that they shouldn't mess up with films and change their colors, audio and I don't know what else!
and maybe they started respecting the customer and his/her money!

I find it funny that Disney would recall Arachnophobia because blacks are washed out and look grey... then they fix it and release it a few weeks later all fixed.

This however is much much worse.. and all we get is Nope sorry, you can have your money back.

I just wish they could reply with at least "We are looking into the issues"... or "We have contacted Sony to see what happened"... thats why im so irritated with them right now. They offer nothing for an explanation to ease peoples minds. Just " Tough S*** " basically. Id think theyd want to keep the fans happy since they will be relying on us to sell out Christine for them.

Yes, that would be a more professional approach indeed!

That's because you and others are confusing Ed the distributor with Twilight Time, who no one has posted an email from and how has answered only one facebook question. That to me, indicates they're going to look into it and come back with a definitive answer, instead of being baited by folks on this forum into saying something over the weekend (with a LOT of BS to sift through here) they might have to later retract.

Here's a question: if they come back and say it's a Sony approved master what will your take on it be then?

I'm not defending this, since I truly think it's an abomination of a classic film, but I can understand Twilight Time's take. They don't see anything wrong with it. The color grading has been changed to a more "modern" look. The blueish hue is popular in lots of current movies so I'm sure Sony, or whoever is responsible, thought they were simply "modernizing" the look of the film.

Im well aware that Sony is who is behind the transfer. If SONY and not the filmmakers.. decided to change the movie then that is WRONG. Thats my take on it. Im not putting the blame all on your precious Twilight Time.

Also if you read back a couple pages, youd see someone emailed them and they distinctly said "THERE WILL BE NO NEW PRESSINGS OF THIS DISC". Now you tell me, does that sound like "they are going to look into it and come back with a definitive answer"? Tell me. Please.

Damn I just now saw this, so what exactly is wrong with the audio now, I have seen the comments on video but what is wrong with the audio?

Thanks
