I see what you're getting at with the zombies, that's where it really hurts. Do you think somebody misunderstood what they were going for with these zombies? They were so cool to me because John Vulich and Optic Nerve researched what REAL dead people look like and found that yellow was a prominant colour (Return of the Living Dead did something similar a few years before with their blood-drained yellow man). Do you think some idiot at Sony thought this was something to be corrected, in the same way Sleepy Hollow was filmed with bright orange blood, knowing they would be fiddling with the colour in post?

Take a look at Psicon's caps as they represent the way the disc actually looks. https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...34#post6536334 |

Neither shot is really representative of how it actually looks while watching it, probably due to my nearly obsolete digital camera. |

The blu-ray is darker than previous releases which makes it look, shall we say, a bit more blue. Does it look smurf blue, no. Is it darker, yes. On the other hand the transfer is clean and has grain intact.

Directors do not have to sign off on these sorts of things. It's pretty clear Tom had nothing to do with the release. The film is owned by Sony and they were the ones who supplied the print to Twilight Time. Whatever happened was done by Sony.

I just don't see how this isn't an error on the blu-ray. The HDX version looks fine. The HDX version and the blu-ray should come from the same HD master? |

Yeah I can see it is darker, but it's not like someone has put Jabba the Hutt in the film. It looks like a darker version of the same movie, it does NOT look blue to me, at all.

I appreciate TT's willingness to look into this this week, so besides their first couple of FB posts aside, they are handling this quite professionally, on a weekend no less. And I think we can all agree SAE has handled the massive shipping of this title like true professionals at super fast speed. So these companies are trying.
I honestly don't think a recall/exchange will happen, though. Has such a thing ever been done with such a small "limited run" DVD that sold out like this before. I know OPERA was numbered, but they still had stock to sell and a single-disc unlimited release out there, so they had to correct the defect (and that title completely stopped playing, so it was completely defective) - or they'd have to remove it off the market completely. Financially, it wouldn't make much business sense to redo NOTLD90 - getting a new HD master from Sony, repressing, implementing a plan to exchange whatever number of people want exchanges (and who knows how many to press?), postage both ways, etc. - all for an item that won't sell any more as it's sold out - so why fix it just for the exhange only? The only reason would be for TT to keep its customer fanbase happy, but even if they do all this, I'm sure some fans will still be angry that they have to waste time sending it back in and maybe pay postage, etc. There really is no total win situation for TT here, as they'd take a big loss doing a recall on this, and many fans would still be upset anyway. I think offering the refund to all who want it is the logical choice and is what will happen, with an apology, of course. I'd prefer a remastered re-do myself, but I understand these things can happen and will just have to live with this. I think if one good thing does come out of this, it's that TT will be extra careful from now on with the masters they receive, especially horror films as us horror fans are pretty passionate. They shouldn't take for granted that what Sony supplies them is correct. Get a horror fan of the film to stop by their office that's willing to check out their check-disc for free (maybe give him a free earlier DVD for his time) - or if that sounds dumb, at least spend $3 to buy a used copy of the earlier DVD off Amazon just to do a comparison before pressing and distribution. I think CHRISTINE will still come, and TT will make sure everything is right on that one. |

In all fairness, TT and SAE are two different companies. TT has hired SAE to distribute/ship the item where as TT is the one that pulled together the release. SAE is the one that answers the phones regarding orders not TT.
