So are some of you guys really suggesting that everyone who is complaining, just has their video settings wrong or not calibrated? Really? So some of us have hundreds of blurays that look great. Never have an issue where a setting has to be changed to make a movie look Good. Yet now its our stuff thats messed up and not the transfer. Right.

When the first person suggested this I went right to my settings and I tinkered with Everything. Never was I able to make it remotely close to what its supposed to be.

Im not sure why this is even being pondered anymore.

Either A: there was a screw up when they mastered it.

or B: Sony decided themselves to change it on purpose.

Thats it.

We will hear what happens when they talk to Sony.

Apparently people suggesting that, haven't thought that if you adjust your settings for the dark parts to look right, the "good" parts of the movie, will be messed up.
Or else you could adjust your settings every 5 minutes so as to see each scene with the correct colors. That's a solution too you know..

I suggested no such thing, only to the member who posted up the youtube video. Though now that you mention it, with your shots that you took of your tv, it's easy to see when looking at the DVD image that your tv isn't calibrated well.

Well that seems totally reasonable. Great way to watch a movie haha.

No one is saying your stuff is messed up. We're just giving suggestions to improve the picture. The transfer is undoubtedly problematic.

My TV doesn't have all the fine tuning options for picture, but it does have a simple high/low setting for "color temperature". High tends to give the entire image a blue tint while low has an amber/golden look. Normally I keep this on high at all times but for this release I switched to low and it was a big improvement. Still a little dark but it helped offset the blue/grey a bit.

just out of curiosity, has anyone watched the theatrical trailer on this disc? of course, it wouldn't solve or explain any of the problems, i'm just curious how it compares to the movie itself...

As long as the thousands of other movies I own and watch on my tv look great, ill just assume my settings are just fine for my liking. Considering this is the first and only bluray ive had look like this.

Well it looks like the movie used to...I'll tell you that. And it's 1080p. Not sure about detail quality difference.

Just finished my copy. There is noticeable "darkness" during the daytime scenes in the beginning of the movie. I wouldn't worry about it too much because it only last maybe 30 minutes. The next day (ending) the PQ was very good. It makes you think of what they can do to improve the day time scenes in the beginning

Anyway, this movie is raw and I'm glad to own this on Blu-ray.

And another:

And this is what the opening looks like with the same "more brightness, more contrast, less blue" ratios applied to it:

Sorry to intervene here BluRayFiend, but the thing isn't if it's watchable or not.
Of course it's watchable. (from what I see).
But it's not the original!

That is the problem for most fans of films..
