I blame them both, because they are both at fault. Simple as that.

I look forward to what Twilight have to say after getting in contact with Sony... But I have a good idea...

I think everyone gets that. The problem with Twilight Time is that they had to have been aware of the altered color timing and made no mention of it, which they should have done.

Anyone watching the blu-ray on a properly calibrated display can see that it's just too damn dark as soon as Barbara gets attacked, all the way through until the last 5 minutes of the film. And skin tones are clearly skewed towards unnatural blue tones. Any label that flies the flag of quality and prices their releases at a premium should check their releases for anything unusual BEFORE releasing them.
I think it's highly unlikely they knew anything was "wrong" with the picutre. Twilight Time only watched the film after Sony suggested they release the title. Like the members on this site who've never seen the movie before and think the picture looks fine, Twilight Time thought the same. That's why they made no mention of it. They had never seen the movie before anyway so they thought that was how it was supposed to look.

If this is how Sony intended the film to look, then there is nothing wrong with the quality. It's only a quality control issue if someone accidentally made it look this way or changed it without permission.

Maybe it would be better if companies started posting screenshots of their releases with their pre-orders so that the consumer will decide if he'll buy or not?
As with films in theaters.
We see a trailer etc...

Well, now that I think of it, half of their sales would go down if they did that..

So if you are upset because of how the refs called a play during an NFL game, you're going to call DirecTV and have them fix it because you pay them?

watched my copy last night. I actually didn't mind it. It's definitely not correct but I've seen the movie so many times in the past that it was kinda neat to watch it and have it look a little different. Kinda like watching it for the first time again. Having said that, if there is an exchange program I will do it just so I can own the correct version with the classic feel of it. But from what I'm hearing so far on this forum, it seems like an exchange is most likely inevitable so I will patiently wait for it.

I would like to reserve all rights to "Night of the Living Dead just won't stay dead" and similar jokes in the event of a re-pressing. That is all.

You said people are claiming Sony is innocent...you seem to think TT has no responsibility for their product whatsoever. I do believe theirs is the name that pops up the minute you put the disc in. They have yet to admit there's even a significant difference between their release and every other that's ever existed. All they've done is deflect.

The picture, in my opinion, was okay. I noticed when Jonny and Barbara were in the cemetery that the sky looked grainy. Also, there were a lot of dark scenes during the movie. I am hoping that a 25th anniversary edition will come out in 2015. Until then, this is what I have.

The grain is natural and is inherent to the film source. I didn't notice any static grain shots, but it did seem to me that some DNR was applied. Though I guess that could be due to the fact that it's so dark that detail is being obscured and crushed in the blacks.

The only thing they've said is that there is nothing wrong with the discs and that it appears as it was intended. If they were deflecting, they would be referring us to Sony's website or e-mail address or Facebook page. They assumed that the transfer that Sony gave them was the transfer they intended. Why would they assume otherwise? Also, they don't deal in every other transfer ever produced comparisons. They just deal in the transfer the studio provides them with. They don't give them a handful of choices and say, "Ok, Twilight Time! Choose which of these 5 transfers you think is the best!"

"We didnt like the transfer"
TT - Its not out fault, its Sony
Bruce Pullam - "I am the ultimate butt kisser of TT and love everything they do no matter what, I will comment on every other person's inquiries. I will defend TT to my dying breath"

First of all, i think if you're going to be a high priced label, 5 minutes of research isn't gonna kill you... and it goes both ways. They deserve no credit for any decent release they've had. Everyone should be thanking the studios. Twilight time had nothing to do with it. Too bad Echo bridge couldn't have released this at 1/6 of the price, cause it seems both labels have about the same level of involvement and added features.

To tell you the truth, I've started being suspicious about that guy!!
Well, he buys 3,4,..., 7 copies of each film?? really?
Unless he is an eccentric rich person..

Twilight Time has never taken credit for the transfer. They've always been open that they don't do any restoration work themselves and that all transfers are done by the studio in house.

And why are you bringing Bruce into this and calling him names when he isn't even taking part of this discussion?

They aren't a "high priced label". $30 dollars is actually lower than allot of new releases MSRP. It's not TT fault we're all used to picking up movies at Walmarts Bargain Bin.
