That being said, applying the tint to the earlier scenes doesn't really work as it's clearly a sunny day. The effect is actually rather old-fashioned, like many a low-budget horror film. It isn't unbearable, just a bit unnecessary. Once the moon comes out, everything works fine. I'd be very surprised if there was a recall on this and I'll be happy enough to keep mine. Still, I lament the ease with which films can now be re-graded. We'll see a lot more of this and worse, I fear. |

Hear hear. Wish Blu-ray.com had a "like" button cos after all these posts it would be a hell of a lot easier to see how many people agree with certain posts people write.

I agree to an extent, that the restoration took every nick, scoff and every imperfection away, but the black levels are no where, the entire movie looks like it was shot in murky mud teal. compare that to say the 4K restoration of 'In Which We Serve' and it makes the 'Children of Paradise' restoration look lackluster at best.

Was that just your ordinary postal delivery? Or was it UPS? And did you pay for quick delivery or just standard? Mine also shipped on thursday and has yet to arrive.

Agreed on that account, but I still believe all future horror titles will sell out considering they're at 3,000 units. Problem is, with all this sink, they may opt out of the horror genre.

Would like to hear what you think about the filter. Is it strong?

Yep, Normal delivery, The type where you had to agree that if it went missing it was tough shat!!!
Watched the first 25 Mins and skipped through the rest, It is way too dark from all previous versions but it's hardly dark blue like some of the caps I've seen, Checked it on all my TV settings (60" THX Plasma) none of them come close to correcting the brightness. Even the interiors when they switch the lights on it's still way, Way too dark I'll be keeping it but hopefully 3 years down the road someone else might put it out or we might get a release from another territory, Germany put out a huge amount of genre titles, So fingers crossed we will eventually get it as intended and as we are used to. |

The only way I know of to achieve this would be to use a PC connected to the TV, and open the frame grab in one window and your Blu-ray playback software in another and line them up. Is that what you're doing? If so, I suggest you look in your Blu-ray playback software, and graphics card configuration control panel, for ALL color/brightness settings. Playback software can have its own internal adjustments which apply only to it, and believe it or not video cards also can have separate adjustments for video, which they can apply only to chunks of the screen that are displaying video layers, while displaying surrounding static screen contents with another set of settings. Or if by side-by-side you just mean you have the JPG loaded on one source (ie, computer) and the disc on another source (Blu-ray player) and are flipping back and forth, then surely you are aware that each source to your TV requires its own calibration profile on your TV (or on itself; a computer usually allows you to do this more flexibly than an optical disc player) if they are to match one another. I'll say instead that for the reasons you detailed above, using ANY caps for comparison, even when they are captured faithfully, is utterly pointless if there is such an extreme level of difference between how a graphics card, and Blu-ray software, render an image. I'm sure they can be calibrated to be the same, but I doubt many people here bother. |
