It's NOTLD 1990 - not exactly a priority title. Give them some time to find the intern who had to work on it.

My point is that this is the end of the line. There will be no recall, no new print struck, no nothing other than refunds. If you call that "being an ass" then so be it.
No, the still shipping out is NOT evidence of that. They are downplaying the problem because, as you can see by looking back the last 100+ pages, some of the screens being circulated are different to how the disc looks. I'm not 100% sure they have been doctored and it's not just the sideeffect of using stills at a lower resolution, but it certainly does seem like a lot of people are playing up the "it's unwatchable, therefore - replacement required" angle.

I get what you're saying, and you are being an ass. The end hasnt' come yet Sony may well wish to keep doing business with TT in future, and rectify the situation.

Nick Redman:

"Brian Jamieson and I are the owners of Twilight Time. It has been stated over and over again that we have nothing to do with the transfers of any film we release. Our contract calls for us to issue the studio-approved masters only. In the case of NOTLD we are currently working with Sony to ascertain whether this is the exact master they wished to see released and the early indications are that this is indeed the the approved version."

How can they not have anything to do with the transfers of any film they release and both claim to be "restoration experts" on their Facebook profiles? Yeah, that's not damage control at all. And I'm the one being an ass, right?

That is such crap coming from Twilight Time. Especially when their materials for the original trailer don't match up. Plus, the color timing shift doesn't even begin until after the

"BASED ON AN ORIGINAL SCREENPLAY by GEORGE A. ROMERO and JOHN RUSSO" credit.

I got my copy later than I expected, but I went through it last night on a visual inspection with a 120 inch screen and then on my BD Drive where I could slow it down to pinpoint where the timing issue began (I use this to check screencaps for upcoming reviews).

If they want to do wacky color shifts, mess around with "The Wizard of Oz"...leave NOTLD alone. It just kills me how bad the shift was in the transfer. It wasn't gradual, but almost like a bad wipe overlayed onto the image.

So I guess they should not make statements like this VVV. Just a bit of false rep building I suppose.

Doesn't this just confirm your suggestion of them not shipping any more discs would be completely pointless? I imagine it's been very obvious to TT how this is going to end, and there is nothing they can do about it. I'd even bet that if this was accidental or unintentional, Sony would never admit it in a million years. The whole point of them giving this film up for third party distribution was so they didn't have to do anything.

That's what I'm saying. That this whole charade is pointless and has been all the wile. Twilight Time first denied there was a problem at all. Then they were "looking into it" while shipping discs the whole time. Now today we finally get word from them that all signs point to the fact that this is how the disc was supposed to look. Meanwhile, they are claiming to have nothing to do with the transfers of any film they release yet both of them claim on their personal Facebook profiles to be "restoration experts." It's spin and damage control, plain and simple. Call me an ass if you want but if walks like a duck and quacks like a duck...

What have the many previous restoration and preservation efforts they've undertaken got to do with Twilight Time?

i.e. very likely someone involved in the film (the dp, the director, etc.) signed off on it. Which will fly in the face of half of the rantings here.

Oh, so now they're flat out lying? They both are or have been directors, producers, studio execs, restoration/preservationists, soundtrack producers, whatever.

Why does that mean they MUST be involved in doing the transfers that are on their Blu-rays?

I agree. If it's going to put work on Sony, we are more than likely going to hear that this is how they intended the film to look. I'm glad they shipped my copy as I got to enjoy the movie yesterday. Regardless of if there is going to be a replacement program or not - and it sounds like Twilight Times is expecting that there won't be - It had been years since I watched my DVD copy and I found this new copy to be very watchable. If there is a replacement program, then awesome, I'll gladly participate, but until then I'll enjoy my copy.

Apparently, Savini didn't sign off on it. Did Frank Prinzi (the DP) sign off on it? Maybe. I'm surprised that the mob hasn't used the power of social media to hunt him down and ask him.
