This thread is a beast. I just saw that Fright Night's thread only has 158 pages, compared to the 229 and growing in this one

Notes in the BD package clearly state 'prepared for Blu ray release by Brian Jamieson and Nick Redman'

Redman & Jamieson ARE Twilight Time!

Why are they denying any knowledge of the obvious fault if they prepared it

As "experts" they should know better. In response to someone who said that he thinks that it's not as bad as people are making it out to be, they (Twilight Time, or at least whoever is representing them on Facebook) are claiming to have watched the Blu-ray on a 7' screen and thought it looked good.

this is how we too feel about it, having looked at it projected on a 7 foot wide screen. However, as we like our customers to be satisfied with our product, we are looking into the situation and will respond further to any action that needs to be taken - thanks again!

I think I found Frank Prinzi (the original cinematographer) on Facebook and I'm trying to get him to weigh in on it.

Prepared probably means they authored the disc, which doesn't necessarily mean they were aware of the issues, or caused it.

I guess if it was successful they wanted the credit.

What is interesting is that I'm sure when other Blu-ray releases from TT that came out and got rave reviews for PQ and AQ, it was easy for the guys at TT to take a bow and the credit. Now, it's all Sonys fault? If you're going to soak in the limelight on a celerbrated release you also have to take the brickbrats on the controversal ones.

Yeah? So they designed the menus, basically, and sorted the encode for the authoring house to stick on the discs. That's all that statement means.

This transfer was done years ago, by Sony, before TT existed. That's a fact.

How is that a fact? The HD transfer shown on TV, and services like VUDU and Amazon are completely different from this TT release. Where's your proof that this particular transfer was done years ago?

I don't have any proof that I can post here. All I have is common sense. The version used for TV will be much older than the one on the Blu-ray.

Why are so stubborn? You don't want to listen to nobody else but yourself. Many people have told you (even one of employees of Twilight Time) that they have nothing to do with any of their blu-ray transfers. Why is that so difficult for you to understand and accept? This thread has become preposterous, ridiculous, and all the constant bickering, and arguing is not going accomplish nor resolve absolutely nothing. You all have been given a two choices! Either you keep the blu-ray, or return it for a full refund .THAT'S IT! This isn't the first defected blu-ray release from any studio, and most certainly it won't be the last. They all can't be perfect. That's just common sense!

Facts you can't back up, got it. For all we know, the one used for the Blu-ray could have been created this year. There's no proof that it was created "years ago"

Wow! Any proof that this is a fact?

If these guys are so-called "restoration experts," even if they had nothing to do with the transfer of NOTLD90, how can they justify selling this mess to the public? The movie has never looked this way in the 22 years since it's release. Not in it's theatrical run, not on VHS, not on laserdisc, not on DVD, not in the streaming HD versions currently available, and not even in the trailer on Twilight Time's own disc! I'd hardly call that a restoration and not something you should expect from people claiming to be experts in the field.

I wonder at any point when they were preparing the disks for market if they noticed the differences between the trailer on the disk and the film on the disk?

It wasn't. But even if it was created the week they announced the release, that still doesn't change the FACT the two blokes who run TT had no involvement with it.

Facebook:Twilight Time DVD Label Appreciate your support, Felix, it means a lot to us. These situations can be stressful, but all will be resolved. As we stated on Sunday, we were in touch with the studio yesterday, and a definitive answer will be coming soon, but all the indications are this was how the Blu-ray was intended to look.

Yup all over folks. Either keep, refund or sell those copies off.

that's too bad. Oh well, I might just try some different settings on my Panasonic Projector to get it looking as good as I can for one complete viewing. Depending on my final thoughts I'll probably just sell it at some point. With online streaming quality getting better and better I would rather a slightly less pristine transfer that is color timed correctly. Plus, I'm fairly certain I can make up that $35 price and then some.
