I know, but I'm too lazy to count, especially since I don't know when the first reviews came on (I think it was September 27th or 28th) and some of those BDs listed are different Nights of the Living Dead - the 68 one or the REANIMATION one.

Also, it hugely helps to find the specific calibration thread for your make and model over at AVSforum and read up on the experiences others are having with your set. There are some things you'll learn over there (specifics regarding how your set treats and adjusts refresh rates, etc.) that you would not be able to discover or understand from the basic home calibration discs. |

It IS very different to the DVD but it is also fairly obvious that it is not an error, and that someone decided to make these changes. I think it looks fine.

Please do not call each other names. Present your opinion in a polite manner, respond to other's views likewise. If you want to disagree with Twilight Time...fine as it is a company, but do not personally attack the owners of Twilight Time. Make your point and move on...no further warnings as short suspensions wil be issued.
Believe me when I post that none of the moderators enjoy reviewing page after page of back and forth bickering. Thank you. |

Is it wrong for me to say that I get perverse sense of enjoyment seeing all this bickering back and forth? Some of these discussion threads here at Blu Ray.com never fail to amuse me and are always good for a laugh.

you have the capability to make an animated gif. Is it safe to assume you have the capability to take uncompressed screenshots. Much has been made of inaccuracies in previously posted shots. It'd be nice to have some from a source that refutes the accuracy.

Savini approves. So what? Whoop-de-doo. He's fundamentally wrong, as he's always talked about how he actually liked the bright, daylight look of the opening act. Why is he changing his opinion now? Beats me. I stand by what I say, to introduce darkness before the sun actually sets in the film is idiotic.
We'll be seeing this released in other territories at some point, of this I have no doubt. A demand has now been created for the original film -as it always has been- on BD that wasn't there before. Distributors in other territories will catch wind of this and if they pony up the money and ask for the 'original' version, Sony will happily hand it over. Their only contractual obligation is not to release in North America for 3 years - the rest of the world is fair game, and it's a BIG market out there outside the USA. As I say, a demand has now been created for the original on BD that wasn't there previously. And I can't believe that this is yet another film where we have to talk about 'old' and 'new' versions. It's crazy. Revisionism should be illegal. So is Savini saying his film was never good enough until Sony meddled with it? Thanks, Tom, but we all liked it just the way it was. To continue to visit this thread and complain about it is the equivalent of going to the Star Wars thread and complaining about the changes George made to the SW films. It's pointless to keep arguing about it. |

The pictures posted where people used cameras to capture an image from their display could be an inaccurate representation of the blu-ray. The color in those images can be affected by a multitude of external factors including the camera itself and the settings on the individual's display. However, I don't think people are intentionally doctoring photos as you suggest. Why you you feel this is the case and why do people keep posting these false accusations? Do you have evidence that people have purposefully doctored images or is this solely based on your assumption because you don't agree with their opinion? These false accusations can also be considered a disgrace; food for thought. |

Just watched the first 20 minutes and I'm not liking this bd at all. The "new look" is so unnaturally dark ... looks like someone turned down the brightness setting on my TV. Definitely do not agree with Tom Savini. Vudu's HDX version will be what I watch from now on. Leaning towards putting this disc on e-bay eventually, but not while the market is flooded with them.

Well, after reading page after page of bad reviews I was almost afraid to watch this Blu-ray. Last night I did watch it myself to see what all the negativity was all about. First of all, I have never seen the original dvd of this, so I had no comparison expectations. After seeing this for the first time, I agree there were some dark scenes, but being a first time viewer, I was not offended by this release. I will keep mine.

I would still love to see a separate TT web site that lists all of the titles they have released with specs and advance screen shots (and back cover art). I think this would help alleviate some of the issues about TT, the confusion of SAE and TT, and where their titles can be obtained from. Any chance TT's FB response I quoted above can be posted to the OP of this thread? |
