I've seen quite a lot of bashing of the people who have posted screenshots that don't put the transfer in a good light (literally!). Many claiming these have been doctored purposely to make them look that way. What I haven't seen much (if any) of are the people saying it looks great and nothing like those screenshots to post pictures of their own from the same shots showing just how different theirs are.

So everyone saying they've been doctored or exaggerated, or even that those people don't have properly calibrated systems: Put your money where your mouth is. Post screencaps of the same shots, or take pics of your TV with it. If you can't do that, then kindly keep your mouth shut about things being doctored.

Different TV's, different cameras, different lighting, different calibrations. This would just cause a different debate based on the individual person.

Is this really an issue? They're offering a 'no questions asked' refund. Or you can resell it yourself and double your money. Probably triple or more if you wait a few months.

I can understand (and share) disappointment with what we got. But I can't imagine anyone feeling screwed over financially.

If a title sells out in one day, you've got something of value to others, even if the transfer looks like dog poo. Or you can just send it back for a refund. No harm, no foul.

Tell that to the people claiming others are doctoring images then.

I think those are far and few between, but yes, I've seen them floating around. I think there was also a reference to the moon landings. You know the thread has gone down the crapper when you start talking about the moon landing compared to a blu ray.

Some people need to let this settle, it can look different, so much anger in here.

Well I actually buy movies to watch them, not to treat them like vintage Yak Face Kenner Star Wars toys, but hey, to each their own. I'm just saying it would be helpful for people to actually see some screen shots and get a real review before they feel like they have to buy something in seconds before it becomes a collectors item. It seems like a preaty easy thing for Twilight Time to do since their sales are web based, and the sites are out there to do pre-presale reviews. I mean, I guess if you're a company and you know your transfers going to look like crap, then I get it, you want to deceive your prospective buyers to trick them. You can return it if it is doctored, hey that's great, but you would'nt have wasted the time to get it and send it back if you knew that ahead of time.

I semi agree but there should be a review like a day before pre-order. Not just to let people know about quality but to also alert the real fans so they can buy the damned thing for a reasonable price.

Well I think what he meant was that buying it isn't really a gamble. Buy it and watch it, if you don't like it THEN sell it. He wasn't talking about buying it specifically as a collectible.

Same here. And I'm not satisfied with this one and not keeping it.

But, again, I can right now sell this at Amazon and double my money... in less time than it has taken to make a few posts here. Or I can trade it for a hard-to-find title I *do* want. So I can't get too upset about having bought it.

I'm pissed that the disc (IMO) sucks, but it's not like I've "lost" anything and it's not like this is an ongoing pattern with TT releases. It's not going to stop me from buying TT discs in the future, for titles that interest me.

There's been a few posts about waiting until this comes out overseas with a different transfer. The only problem with that is that Sony will probably provide the same transfer to any overseas company or if they themselves release it. I just don't think they'd stand by this transfer then change it for overseas markets. So regardless of your opinion (like Star Wars) this is the only way this movie is gonna look from here on out. For good or bad that's it I guess. I can live with it. Not thrilled but not horribly disappointed.

yes it certainly can look different. Nobody is disputing that.
But several people have posted screenshots from the disc, and not a single one differs in appearance.

Okay, I get that. I still wonder who decided on the blue look though (since it's obvious even though he likes it, Savini had no clue). I guess it's one disc out of 20 or however many they've put out, so it's not like they've put out screwed up stuff constantly, so hopefully this is just an isolated incident.

Good point. I do not like the transfer. I think it has issues and it could have looked much better (just my opinion). However, I am keeping it and this will not deter me from buying TT titles in the future . Why does it have to be either love or hate with Twilight Time? We see a lot of people (all over the Internet) predictably excusing and "loving" everything they do. On the other hand, there are people that are really nasty to anything associated with TT and appear to dislike everything they do. Overall, I think TT gets a lot more things right than wrong and their product is very good.

Screencaps or no screencaps, it doesn't matter because, there is nothing can be done about it. This matter can be debated until the cows come home, it's not going to change the fact. The blu-ray transfer has been previously approved under the supervision of Tom Savini ( the director) and he's extremely satisfied with the results of his movie. Other than the DVD, the blu-ray is the final video HD transfer. Night of the Living Dead (1990) will not be remastered on any current or future video format.
