That's not evidence. That's just Storaro trying to implement his Univisium format. He still knows what the film looked like better than anyone.

He just prefers less of it onscreen

We would probably still have some people saying they like the pacing better with the scene cut out.

The person who edited the master would probably say, "yeah, I meant to do that".

And the director would say "I absolutely love the new cut of this film. It's amazing".

Has anyone in Canada got there copy yet? Seeing as people in the UK already have it, makes no sense that Canadian's don't.

Just watched my copy NOTLD and it wasn't as bad as some imply. Yes it's darker and there is a blue ting to everything. It doesn't look as vibrant in the beginning. However me personally, i can live with this easily. The isolated score is fantastic to hear while watching the film. Gives it this whole different vibe.

Nobody at TT should be taking bows for the superlative transfer. I mean they have nothing to do with it. Right?
Apparently you missed the other posts - they have never taken credit for a transfer, not from day one. They have acknowledged every step of the way that the transfers are done by the studios and have nothing to do with them - and that includes the great transfers that get nothing but universal praise. I suspect you knew that.

PuppetMasterBlu's suspicion is partially correct. Most of the royalty contracts for non-A-list creative talent in Hollywood the studios regularly use, commonly use 3000 units as some sort of cutoff for certain rights and royalties.

An industry lawyer from L.A. would know more. There are all sorts of loopholes the studios use, like 500 promo copies can be manufactured royalty-free and the like.

I do find it odd that people who hate this are reselling it somewhere (check the poll that was created) rather than sending it back to TT. Yes, you'd make more money, but would your point not be better illustrated if you sent them directly back to TT?

If you send them back, what will come of them? Will they really re-release them to the public for original price? Or is it more likely they will take them to the secondary market themselves over time, for inflated prices? If the latter, I'd say keep the profit for yourself.

It just seems to me that those on the board ripping TT are benefiting off of something they claim to have so much disdain for. Just funny to me is all.

I dont understand how and why Twilight Time's releases are so popular. Most of them are mediocre according to the reviews on here, so why? Is it because they're limited?

I'd 100% say that's the case. At 3,000 units, if you're on the fence about it, you're probably going to buy.

Most TT films have been well reviewed here. Some films (like "The Big Heat") are even regarded as some of the best ever made.....

Sure, some releases are fluff but most of them are at the very least highly entertaining.... And yes.... I'm sure the limited edition status helps its popularity as well.

My Twilight Time titles generally take a week to Winnipeg so I'm looking at Thursday (with luck) or Friday.

You have to appreciate that Canada is a big place and most of our Twilight Time titles will be coming by truck. Probably trucked from Virginia to a post office port of entry then trucked to the rest of the country...which can take a very long time in country that stretches 5,000 miles from coast to coast.

Stuff going to the UK catches a plane. I think the UK is something 600 miles from top to bottom. If the customs guys are in a good mood, stuff can move from the port of entry to anywhere in the country pretty darn quick.

Are they popular? It's true that plenty of their releases are "mediocre" films, but I doubt they'll ever sell out of any of those. They're certainly not popular (stuff like Roots of Heaven, Wayward Bus, Desiree).

They've only sold out of 4 releases (out of 33!), all "good" to "great" films.
