While TT isn't responsible for the tinting since they just toss whatever they're given onto a disc, they certainly put this out. They deserve the criticism, especially for the premium price everyone pays. I don't know why everyone is so surprised though... The most "love" they put into their releases is a magnet. And I don't even think they do that anymore. Your local crappy pizza place gives you magnets. I don't see those being sold on eBay for $20. ![]() Last edited by Uncontrol; 10-03-2012 at 11:28 PM. |

The commentary and featurette also say that it wasn't intended to be a bright sunny afternoon, but that's the weather they had to deal with. It's not surpirsing the transfer the DP was consulted on reflects the original intention.

I just saw the movie and i gotta say that the blueish tint that has everyone talking is IMO not that bad...yes its darker, and yes its different, but it actually darkens the mood, which in the case of this movie, works out for it.Im a big zombie/Romero fan and the very first zombie movie i saw was actually this one, so i know the original like the back of my hand, but i guess most people were used to seeing the movie look a certain way, and then seeing the new blu ray a bit differently comes as a bit of a shock, especially for hardcore fans. In the end, theres nothing we can do about it, and what im gonna do is watch the blu ray at night to give it a dark, gloomy look and when nostalgia kicks in, ill just pop in the dvd.

Savini says they were originally wanting to make the opening a slow transition from B&W to color.

He says that was an idea that was abandoned. During the storyboard phase they worked through allot of ideas and tossed them out. It was better for the budget to make mistakes during the storyboard phase than while shooting, however the overly sunny weather was one of many hurdles they did not forsee.

![]() The point I was trying to illustrate is that even professional reviewers were throwing accolades to TT for various transfers of films on Blu-ray. I felt that TT's initial reaction to the backlash of the NOTLD90 was to run for cover. But they didn't run for cover from glowing reviews that claimed they had a hand in the transfer. Nor has there been a correction in any of the various reviews on behalf of TT. Should I apologize or should TT apologize for not being up front about the newly retooled color timing? |

Anyone who is insisting I've stated that Twilight Time was "responsible" for any transfers--good or bad--is simply either not reading my reviews or misreading them. I have stated over and over (and over and over) again that the label licenses their titles from Fox and Sony-Columbia. When I say something like "another stellar transfer from Sony-Columbia and Twilight Time" I am not stating that Twilight Time did the transfer.

Just a smattering of quotes from my reviews:
This is yet another stunning looking catalog release culled from HD masters provided to Twilight Time by Sony – Columbia. The Egyptian is the first Blu-ray release from niche label Twilight Time, though as Nick Redman revealed in his exclusive interview with Blu-ray.com, the HD transfer was actually handled by Fox and was in their "assets" vaults, simply waiting for release. This second Blu-ray release by Twilight Time, and the first of their Blu-ray titles licensed from Columbia, As with most of the Fox HD masters that have been provided to Twilight Time by the studio, |

It's not as if E! News lead with this story Sunday or covered it at all. Not the Hollywood Reporter or Deadline Hollywood. Comingsoon.net or Aintitcool.com didn't mention it. Movies.com didn't either. What bad press? There have been a couple of bad reviews on a couple of sites and a bunch of blogs nobody reads. And for every angry fan who never wants to buy from TT again, their are even more who are fine with this release and will be buying from them again in the future. Somehow I doubt the people who were buying 10 copies of NOTLD were planning on buying as many copies of Bonjour Tristesse. And Christine is going to sell out in less than a week if not 48 hours.

Yes. That's why there was such a huge uproar over Cover Girl and Demetrius and the Gladiators. Those threads had 5,000 comments from angry fans returning all of their previous TT purchases out of principle.

Have any of those people ever covered TT at all? I don't think so... Would that mean by your definition, they've apparently never gotten any good press, or neutral press, either? Kind of some weird debate tactics you are using today.
