As someone who used to collect movie soundtracks a few years back, I'd buy stuff all the time as soon as it went up for presale from sites like Intrada and Varese Sarabande because I was afraid it would sell out. In some cases it would, but at least they always gave you some sound samples ahead of time so first of all you could sample what it sounded like if you were unfamiliar with it, but also if you were familiar with it but were curious about the audio quality. That's why I'm not a fan of Twilight Time doing this limited release presale stuff without any kind of indication to what the visual quality is. You have no clue. If a transfer has just been sitting around and all Twilight Time does is plop it on a disc, there's no reason they could'nt give a preview of what it looks like. It's not like it's not done. Luckily for me my first probable Twilight Time pick-up will be Major Dundee (of course that's dependant on if it contains the original score, the DVD had both the original score, and a newly composed one), a title that probably won't sell very well, at least to start out with, so I'll have a preaty good idea of what it''ll look like before getting it.

Yeah, I completely agree with you Klaus, and I've said it too somewhere..
It would be great if we got screenshots in each release! I want to buy too eg. Christine, and will hurry in the first hour of pre-order, but what if it's messed up like this one? (of course, even if they did put screenshots, they could avoid putting the controversial ones, se we're back to zero) I always wait for reviews and screenshots of the Blurays I'm buying. I never buy them on "day 1" ( i see it's a regular expression here in this forum). But with these limited editions you can't just wait for reviews.. I have 4 Twilight time releases and all - except for Demetrius and the gladiators which falls in the above categoty i mentioned - are exceptional!! but I think that, after this, maybe many will demand to see screenshots of Christine before the preorder.. Well, i at least, will ask about it in their facebook page when the time comes. Last edited by filmmusic; 10-04-2012 at 08:04 PM. |

I'd like to think we'll end up with a dope Blu-ray. Even though I hate the NOTLD disc, I love my Fright Night one and think (and hope) that NOTLD is an anomaly, not the new standard. Since Christine is my favorite of all 3 films, I'll still be ordering one for myself as a tie-breaker. If they F that up, then I'll surely be among the vocal leaders to boycott them. At least this will drive speculators away from Chrissy, although I'm sure it will sell out faster than Dead did anyway. Don't underestimate John Carpenter fans, there's more than 3000 of them who love this movie just like me.

After reading of this, I posted mine for a BIN price of $66.60 on ebay and it was purchased within a couple hours by someone in New York. I really don't know why you would want a refund on a sold out title unless it's broken or unsaleable? No harm, no foul for me. I almost doubled my investment. I will without a doubt bite on Christine when it goes up for pre-order.

I don't want to start a war or be mean, but have you met Tom Savini in person? He is the biggest pompous ass I have ever encountered at a Horror Con, and that includes Bruce Campbell. He is so full of himself that it's sad and it really upset me because I have been a major fan for decades. Every single year he is here, he is an ass. He's notorious for it.

I see a lot of people, and a lot of reviews, mentioning how daft the new darkening is when the film already had a day-to-night montage 20 minutes in. Which I agree with obviously (though it still makes sense, since the montage now just looks like a dusk-to-night montage instead).
But it does correct something that I think never made sense before. The montage occurs about 25 minutes in, after Ben and Barbara first meet. Once it changes to night, nothing of consequence has happened. The current situation is exactly the same as before. It feels like 15 minutes has passed, maybe 30. They've not explored the house, not secured it, and not removed or cleaned up the bodies inside. If we go by the old colour timing, apparently Ben and Barbara have just been sat there doing nothing for at least 3-4 hours, completely unmolested. For it to go from beaming sunshine to pitch darkness, at least that amount of time must have passed. With the new colour, and thus new dusk-to-night montage, this missing time can now be interpreted as considerably less. It now makes sense for the beginning of the night segment to leave off almost exactly where the "dusk" segment ended. No excuse for revisionism of course, but if you're going to take the time to point out how a revision makes less sense of something, you should also point out if it's making more sense of something else. Since, hey, there's a good chance that's why the revision was made in the first place. |

True but it would be smart to buy it because it WILL sell out in pre-order, im guessing within a week. Buy it, keep it sealed and wait until reviews come out. If it turns out something else horrible like this happened you can either sell it for god knows how much OR you can still return it to Twilight because I think they have always accepted sealed returns. Really you can't lose on a purchase like this.
