Not true. But of course they will pick and choose which catalog items they want to release themselves, or will offer to others like TT. And will just sit on the rest.

your grocery store line is moot.....what we are talking about supporting is a business that puts out movies nobody else does.....its not even about ma and pa chains. hell if best buy, amazon ect had this as a release ofcourse people would get the cheapest version. but as it stands on TT offers it so you have to decide is it worth the price to YOU.

and if you want to stick with the grocery store thing...not all places carry the same things.....so ive spent extra to go somewhere else and get something that only they carry as im sure others have too.

I wish I were in a financial position to be able to do just as you suggest... and support more local and small businesses. Really, I'm not being sarcastic here. I can't afford it, though, so I have to go where the deals are.

That's not really comparing apples to apples though...your argument assume both grocery stores offer the same products, but where one is more expensive than the other...in a TT argument, it would be like only one of the two grocery stores are selling "apples", therefore, apple lovers would most likely pay whatever the TT grocery store is selling them for.

Unfortunately most have been after the titles have been out for a bit. Not even sure all titles were reviewed.

One of the reasons is they do not appear to give out copies for review. So the reviewers have to puchase a copy and wait for their copy before they review it.

We have a local dairy farm in the area, and there's only one close supermarket who carries their products. I like their milk for the kids (in the big glass jugs with 1-2 inches of pure cream at the top) and their ice cream.

I don't mind paying a little more for it, because I like it and I can't buy it anywhere else.

but then again there are MANY people like me who don't GO to those "unique" places like the dairy farm even though we may want to because we REFUSE to pay what they're asking for. and then those same "unique" places grumble and whine about how "big business is running them out of business". you don't bring a product at a price your consumers want you deserve (business wise) to die and burn

Yikes. You really ought to watch the documentary, 'Walmart: The High Cost of Low Price'

Calder Dairy has been around for over 50 years, and is a relatively small operation - they're not too frightened by Wal-Mart's top quality dairy products. Oh well, the grocery store analogy held no water anyway.

Bottom line is if you want this title, you either pay the $30 at TT, pay a scalper more later after it sells out (and it will), or continue to enjoy the DVD. Crying about pricing and availability isn't going to change this - you either want it, or you don't.

correct. and Twilight time has found their niche. Just saying many of us won't buy from them even if we want it because we don't think what we get is worth it. thus this whole "if you want it then buy it" scenario isn't COMPLETELY accurate. Many of us want many things , but will never buy them because we don't think it's worth what they're asking for it.

and on a side note, I don't have anything against TT for the most part, they put out a unique product that most studios don't wanna touch. however I have a BIG problem with Sony. It's pretty obvious at this point that they are being EXTREMELY lazy with their catalog releases. it's not like Sony is just giving a source over to TT to remaster and redo etc. they are giving over ALREADY DONE masters that just need to be printed. Basically they're take a cheap easy profit and refusing to risk ANYTHING at this point. and personally by viewing the chatter on a dozen or so forums it's really pissing off a good chunk of their catalog fanbase, and while in the short time I predict they'll get some quick cash, but in the long run I could easily see this hurting them worse than the stupid choices they've made the last 2 years or so.

Thumbs up

Luckily they havent released much of interest to me, NOTLD and 3 other titles thankfully. I prefer the infrequency. Same with Criterion - once in a blue moon they will release something I want, but when they do I get excited to see a movie in my DVD collection get the royal blu treatment

Agreed. If every title they released was something I wanted, then I'd be pissed.

same here, the only one I wanted was Fright night (should have picked up a couple extras and resold to recoup my costs, but hindsight is 20/20)... the rest of their titles are mainly "meh" or "I'd pick that up for $5-$10 sometime" type of titles

Hey, I go to Calders Dairy farm!! We must live close to each other. They do have good milk, and you can't forget the egg nog around Christmas.

Guys do you think this will still be available on release date if I dont pre-order?

I use an international debit card, and some stores just deduct right away on pre-orders, then when its released, they say they dont have the money, and the bank is holding it. Bank will say they have it. Such a hassle. So I plan to buy it when it is available.
