Therein lies the problem with this entire entire thread conversation. Those who are the most vocally upset, are the majority of the biggest fans, who bought this movie because they love this movie. There are plenty of people around here who purchase every movie TT releases, and couldn't care less. There are plenty of people who bought this because they're "collector's" and they couldn't 't care less either. There are plenty of people who bought it to sell it for twice the price on eBay....they kind of care, because they might not be able to rip people off for as much as they'd like.

I actually bought Creeps on release day at Best Buy where they had 3 copies. Once those sold (they were gone by next week, so probably a day or 2), I never saw it in another store again. Definitely a classic flick and a great disc. I did my part, and still got caught up in this mess!

Yes. Twilight Time has explained in detail their business model. They chose the number because that is the amount they have always dealed with in the limited run soundtrack business. It gives them a "magazine rate" for the liscencing fees that they pay out of pocket and upfront before the presale even goes up. They deal in the number they can afford to pay upfront and out of their own pocket.

I wouldn't say the majority of the biggest fans are the most vocally upset. The term biggest fan is subjective and just because someone spits out condemnation and vitriol rampantly does not make them "love" anything more than anyone else.

I wouldn't really say it's good at all. They acknowledge the issues mentioned all over the web and they see themselves why this is an issue, and concludes that it's a shame that Sony or TT did not take the time to fix this issue. They say the transfer is "Serviceable", which isn't really that positive an adjective to use for a transfer imo. They praise the detail, like most other reviewers have as well. In regards to audio they say "The DTS-HD 5.1 Master Audio mix fares much better than the video". So no, that's not really positive at all, but I suppose you can say it's less harsh than other reviewers.

I was looking at the overall video score of 82.... That's taking into account the positives and negatives. A score of 82 is pretty good... thats like the equivalent of a 4/5 on any other site.

He didn't seem to upset by the color timing change. He just pointed out those that want it to look like it always has will be disappointed.

Description>>an arbitrary number

Hell, the reviewer gave the extras an 85.

Sometimes (not always) there's little window between the horizon and the cloud cover, and you're treated to the sight of a lovely orange sun setting. Then it's night proper.
Naturally the easiest points to dismiss (birds chirping, setting sun) would be the ones the "it looks fine" camp would want to focus on, but what about the harder points to dismiss that have been brought up which keep getting ignored? Stark shadows being cast on the ground by barns, trees, silos, people, even on the faces of buildings by their roof...on an overcast day? People driving around in the dark without headlights on? Makes it blatantly obvious it wasn't shot in the dark; so obvious that if I were the filmmaker I would quite honestly be ashamed of attempting to mask it with day-for-night filtering.

Yea, but if he really disliked the transfer, why would he give it such a high score? Sometimes, when there's such a controversial release such as this one, the review will spend more time focusing on what's "wrong" with the transfer than what's right. Giving the tone of the review a negative spin.... And the negatives he points out is more in line with "IF you are a huge fan, you might be disappointed in this release"... Not that it bothered the reviewer all that much.

I take the score to mean that he enjoyed the transfer overall

Maybe they're taking the remake thing literally and trying to add some of the technical ineptitude that plagues all of Romeros films (and this is coming from someone that loves them, technical ineptitude and all). Anybody who has seen the opening of Martin with the disappearing reappearing cold cream mask knows what I'm talking about.

That site appears to do reviews for almost every TT release. Certainly more than other sites tend to do, and it wouldn't surprise me if they received them for free. So it could just be them not trying to bite the hand that feeds them. Or it could just mean that they're a huge fan of TT, and are biased in that way. All I know is the impression gotten from their description in no way matches the score they provided for PQ. The same thing with the extras. There's no way the extras should demand a score of an 85. What's funny is, some of the TT releases that just have an isolated score, and trailer scored a 20 on their site. Apparently an added commentary jumps that up 65 points? Hilarious. I think the reviewer seems a bit misinformed personally, with them saying TT should be commended for the disc, and that TT didn't have time to fix the issue, etc.. The numbers are nigh useless in my opinion, but feel free to think this is a positive review if you want.

I don't know if this has been mentioned before.

Twilight time from their facebook page:
Going forward, if TT encounters another situation where the new transfer differs greatly from the old, we will bring that to collectors' attention prior to the disc being offered so that you may know of the changes beforehand.

That is the best thing they can do! :-)
