So much for the people who bought multiple copies and are now trying to sell them at inflated prices on Ebay too!
Why too bad for them? They are still selling for upwards of $70

There is an adjective I used before the word "shadow" that is important. In language, it can be important to consider all words in a sentence. Tell you what. You take me somewhere on an extremely overcast afternoon, or at night, where you see darkness like this and shadows exactly like these ones, with no apparent artificial light source active (which in the second one, would have to be a giant hovering UFO and by then it would no longer be dark), and I'll bow down on the ground and kiss your feet. Some important words bolded in case you missed them.

UPDATE FROM SAE'S NEWS FEED:

October 5 - We are receiving a number of inquiries from fans who missed out on NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD 1990 Blu-ray initially, and would now like to obtain a copy. A very limited amount of copies will be available again on October 26th, 4pm EST. These will be limited to 1 per customer, and to those who had not previously ordered one from us. We will not be adding any more customers to the waiting list, but those already on it will be notified.

Nobody "bought" me off for my opinion. Why does it have to be any different with a review JUST because they got a free copy. I just hate conspiracy theory arguments. They don't usually hold much water, IMHO.
Agree but this goes both ways. There have also been a few, very vocal folks, who have accused those that don't like the new transfer as TT haters and only dislike the new changes because they hate TT simply because of the $30 price tag. IMHO that is completely absurb.

I understand that.... And those people are wrong too. I can see where people would absolutely hate the transfer. Heck, if someone decided to change something as small as making the Blue Box in Mulholland Drive (my favorite movie of all time) into a pink box I'd be angry! and I wouldn't hate on people who liked the 'artistic change'.

There's room for people to both like and dislike a transfer and its changes without having ulterior motives...

Would it be acceptable if Leonardo Davinici came back to life and said oh wait Mona Lisa needs a bushy mustache? After all its what the aritist intended right?

Surely people will have a double standard on this so it should be acceptable people get the art they remember it as being.

The problem is, a select few have no tolerance for the other and are so bent on proving that it's a great transfer or a terrible transfer. I don't understand why if someone hates it or loves it, why someone would get them to change their mind and personally start insulting them. Screen shots, review scores, personal opinions and insults keep recycling themselves. At the end of the day, I guess we will have to agree to disagree. To those who hated it, I hope you can resell and/or find some value in your purchase (or a new version released) and those who enjoyed it will continue to do so.

Hope you didn't take my post as being directed at you. I was simply using it as a springboard to state the opposite view point. Some forget that they is plenty of room for everyone to state their own personal opinion.

In some countries artists have "moral rights." No one can change something they've done without their permission. If Leonardo has a right to prevent people from altering the Mona Lisa, then there is an implied, reciprocal "moral right" of the people which would prevent Leonardo from making changes to the painting.

Hey,BK--a few of the early Sony titles are priced at $34.95 -- Picnic, Pal Joey, Bite the Bullet, Bell, Book & Candle -- all other Blu-rays (including Fox titles) in the catalogue are $29.95, with the exception of the first, The Egyptian, which is $39.95 (and getting close to sold out.) When we first made our deal with Sony we agreed to experiment with 2 price-points -- $34.95 and $29.95 and would eventually settle on one. $29.95 has become the default studio-approved sweet spot, and most, going forward will be at that level. Rare exceptions include Major Dundee which will likely be $34.95 as it is a 2-Blu-ray set, with the restored version on one disc, and the original theatrical cut (never available on DVD) on the other.

Nick.

Not sure if that had been mentioned before. Presumably we'll get the original score on the theatrical cut, and the new score on the restored cut.

This also explains the different pricing structures we've seen in the past.

I'll go with that. I'll gladly pay a tiny bit more to get two cuts of the film.

With all this focus on birds chirping, kind of makes me wonder what a Terrence Malick Night of the Living Dead would be like. Maybe like the Sean Penn section of Tree of Life where he stumbles around with a vacant/clueless look similar to a zombie.

Update from TT FB:

Earlier in the week when we offered a full refund for disappointed fans who wished to return their copies of NOTLD to SAE, we were concerned that SAE would be overwhelmed with refund requests--this has not happened. What is happening though, is that our faithful distributors *are* being overwhelmed by requests to purchase the returned copies....the problem is, the number of returned copies is going to be very, very small...and the volume of requests already received far outweigh the anticipated availability...please do not email SAE about this any more, as we have determined that those "returned" copies will be offered for sale on Oct 26th, 4 pm at the SAE site...keep reading this page, and SAE's main page, for more info as the date nears...thanks, guys.
