That's common with people who have never watched it before, like my wife who is not a horror fan, besides I'm sure he's watching on a calibrated display

This thread won't stay dead!

In his defense, I think the same thing happened to the guys at Twilight Time when they first screened sony's 20th anniversary transfer. If you never saw the film, you would assume that it should look dark given the subject matter.

Side topic....I was kind of bummed that Season 2 of The Walking Dead skipped them being in winter. In one episode they mentioned the cold might slow them down.

I can't really recall any zombie movie taking place in winter with the exception of Dead Snow. But the zombies in that one were the fast moving kind.

Not trying to be a dick here, guys, but regardless of how you choose to color this or speak in innuendo or "hush, hush, wink wink", it boils down to creating an unauthorized, unofficial version of the movie. That is a violation of the copyright, plain and simple. Add to it the perceived interest of other members here in enabling this effort, and this thread has taken a decided turn.

The mods have warned several times against this. The last warning could not be more clear. I would not like to see the thread closed despite some of the over-the-top content in it. Nor would anyone want to get banned over this. Please take all of this discussion - or whatever you want to call it - to private email. Preferably off this website entirely.

Don't screw it up for the rest of us. I know you don't intend that, but the result will be the same.

Just wondering, has TT worldwide rights to NOTLD or is it just for the NA release for the next 3 years?

You are correct and it needs to stop. Two suspensions issued and permanent bans are next if it continues.

Wow. Not sure what you're talking about. I missed it - or it was something from several pages ago.

TT only has the rights to North American distribution. Sony can license the film to another entity as long as that is released outside of North America.

Hopefully an overseas company like Arrow will pick up the rights over there and do this right like they did with Return of the Living Dead.

Return of the Living Dead was Second Sight, not Arrow

Once again, I want to make something very clear. Bootleg or piracy discussion is not allowed and will be tolerated.. Anyone returning from suspension due to their disregard for this rule and posting about it again will be perm banned without further warning. Thank you.

Oops! You are correct. Mustache getting ahead of my brain again. I think either company would do a good job with it though.

Were there any reports about how many were returned to SAE and if they all were resold?

How many copies, no. But they said that they were getting way more requests to be put on the wait list than they were returns, so it's safe to say they're all long gone by now.

And the different color timing for Seven is probably a lot less extreme than the NOTLD 1990 changes. I think Seven looks fine on DVD and blu-ray, but I never saw it at the theater.
Not many people saw NOTLD90 either... It was a box office flop and a very minor horror remake. So does this still apply?

I wasn't rich and owned 400+ laserdiscs, including Criterion's Se7en. They were big for film collectors/enthusiasts/videophiles.
