This disappoints me. Even though it is a remake, it is one of the best remakes of a film... and given the popularity of the Walking Dead on AMC right now (creator Robert Kirkman says he was heavily influenced by the original Night of the Living Dead 1968) and the popularity of Romero, this should be the fastest sellout they have ever had.

Honestly, I expect web-site crashing rush to order this when the date opens to do so.

I had long hoped that the release of the 1990 remake would come with the 1968 original, since the original is in the public domain and can be released by anyone without any royalty. Twilight Time would make a huge splash IF they somehow acquired a good master (or made one themselves) of the 1968 original to include with this.

Heck... they charge $30 for a movie... IF they released a good quality 1968 version as part of a 2-disc set for this... they could probably get $50 for the thing. I'm not even kidding.

I can't imagine this not selling through faster than they can take the orders.

I already have two copies on DVD. And since my new Panasonic (DMP-BDT321) upconverts to near Blu-ray quality, I'm ok with what I have now. That said, I still wish this was available for widespread release on Blu. I'm getting sooo weary of all the "limited release" BS games that are being played these days.

This sucks. I have always preffered the 1990 Remake to the 68 Original(but I love the Original too,as without it the Zombie Genre as we know it,and movies like Shaun of the Dead and the Original Dawn of the Dead 2 of my Top 5 Favorite All-Time Movies, wouldn't exist) but I'm not gonna buy a $30+ Barebones Blu-Ray,when the DVD had a great Savini Commentary and a pretty decent mini-doc,which also showcased the Uncut Gore Scenes they had to cut out to keep the R Rating, even tho by today's standards the cut Gore really isn't over-the-top like, say, any Theatrical Version of the Saw Series, but anyway, this sucks. I would pay $5 for a Barebones Blu from Mill Creek,or a $20 Shout(Scream)Factory release missing the DVD extras, but with new extras created for the release, but not $30 for a Barebones release. I might even pay the $30+ if they put the DVD extras on it,but so far that hasn't happened with other TT releases, and I'm not that interested in a Isolated Score track.

My guess as to why SONY is selling older movies to TT is make up lost profits due to the earthquake and London riots.

I thought of that when I first read the announcement. It wouldn't surprise me.

Definitely in for the remake one as I love the entire Dead series. Can anyone suggest to me the best/cheapest way to get the Japanese version of the 1968 original since it is the best version?

It's going to be expensive.... there's really no way around it. Either Amazon.jp or YesAsia are your best bets. You're looking at anywhere from $40-$50 at either place.

Thanks Detroit. Is that still the best version of the original?

$52? Ouch! No thanks. I'll just wait for a proper North American release.

I'll be getting this too. I do hope they will be retaining the DVD extras.

I don't know if it's the best version of the original.

If you want a cheaper alternative,I took the french edition of the original and it was only 8€(10$).The picture has been restored and supervised by Georges Romero himself.

The downside about this edition is the two audio commentary are missing but you get almost 3 hours of special features(2 documentary in fact).

I'm very happy with this release especially at this price.
