Fright Night's price is just plain silly... $280 at the cheapest? Yeah I will pass on that, I just wish I had bought the title before it sold out, hopefully when the 3 year agreement ends it will get a proper release.

The reason Night of the Living Dead's price on the second hand market is not as high as Fright Night is that a lot more people bought Night of the Living Dead with the intention of selling it on for a profit and also that it has been out for less time. The bad reviews haven't helped the second hand market value but they are not the main reason.

* People who didn't buy Fright Night and later regretted it (guilty) didn't hesitate on pre-ordering this title resulting in less after market demand later. * Many more of the presales were purchased with the intent on re-selling. * Increased supply of copies for sale due to legit customers who were dissatisfied with the transfer issues * Decreased demand due to the poor reviews and word of mouth due to the transfer issues * Purely my opinion, but overall NOTD '90 doesn't have the same cult following as Fright Night Although I'm disappointed with what happened to this release I'm glad that the prices have not followed the Fright Night model. Maybe future releases will have the 3000 copies wind up in the hands of actual collectors instead of re-sellers. If NOTD would have consistently sold for $80+ after release then Christine and other titles would sell out so quickly it would be difficult to get a single copy unless a limit were imposed. |

To me its quite simple. The value of the NOLD 90 blu is barely above retail+shipping because there isn't lots of demand for it anymore. Plenty of demand before it was sold out, not much once everyone's seen what it offers.
Personally i think its because its a lousy transfer. There are a lot of ebay sellers trying to prop up the quality of the transfer to unload these. |
