The bigger issue is that in the end this is a huge fuss over a pretty lousy film, which flirts with mediocre at best for moments but has none of the creep of the original.

I know exactly where those images came from, I have this version, and the DVD looks the same, obviously these 1080p images are not from the DVD, it took a lot of work to get the Theatrical version to look as good as in them images.

Ah i have seen those comparisons before. Daytime scenes look more in keeping with the film IMHO. Wow you have the original 1990 film of NOTLD

PS
there is one guy on here has a fixation with Smurfs or is it Trolls.............

I can't say that I have a fixation with smurfs , trolls or other mythical creatures. I do like telecaster and les paul guitars though.

The whole blue tint thing going on with the Twilight Time release 1990 release of NOTLD seems like an artiste' decision by someone who should have never changed the transfer. Also they should have left in the original screwups as this is how it was cinematicly released. And by Savani giving two thumbs up for this release, he has pulled a George Romero Dimension A Okay Cropped Two Thumbs Up Fonz Move.

So what is Twilight Time going to do about this? Will release a proper transfer or will they put two thumbs up and say, Aaaaayyyyyyyyyyy.

Default it seems that...the truth

It seems that if anything is written disparaging in comedic form about George Romero or Tom Savini, is deleted fast. So I will give my honest opinion without comedic content with hopes that it will not be deleted:

Geoege Romero does not care about and has completely moved on from Night of the Living Dead. Hence why he put his signature and his blessing on the cropped Dimension release.

Tom Savini is simply saving face if he actually is endorsing the smurfed-up Twilight Time release.

As for the butcher who cropped the hell out of NOTLD 1968 and the nuevo artiste' jackass who tinted NOTLD 1990, they are utter and complete hacks and thus should never work in anything to do with film ever again. What these two hacks have done would be the equivilant of cutting off the top and bottom section on the Mona Lisa painting and then painting the remaining painting with semi clear blue paint.

I agree with the 68 version being cropped being a no, no. But again on the 1990 there is nothing wrong IMHO, fine detail, colour timeing etc all look great to me.
I would still like to see how some of you people are viewing this, your settings on your tv's etc.

Sighs.

Look, it has nothing to do with settings. You can see direct caps from the new Blu and the prior DVD... obviously there's a difference. We've had confirmation that Sony 'tweaked' the film. I personally didn't mind as much as many since I haven't seen the film in a long, long time. Still, that doesn't mean I can ignore what's been done. I don't see how anyone can't see it, and/or shrug it off as a television calibration issue.

+1 for sure! The debate here was not whether or not you like it because that does not matter, we all can like what we want and that is very cool, no problems with that whatsoever, but when you say there is no difference, or very little, or as mzupeman stated when you start blaming TV settings, well that is just crap lol, I was actually going to get untouched Blu shots and match them to our Theatrical shots to show the extreme differences but at this point it is just not worth it, there is more then enough examples already throughout this thread to prove to you or anyone else that there was change, and a significant one at that.

I can see it had a different colour timing to the DVD, some are saying it looks to blue i am saying it doesn't. Some people may have their tv's set up incorrectly which might over emphasize what they see as a problem.

... and some of us ****ed with every setting on our TV's and it was still too dark and blue no matter where we stopped, esp. compared to what we've seen for the last 22/23 years!

Glad you like it. I'm trying hard to, I've watched it but it only hurts knowing how great this could've looked. Look back in the thread to when they came out, and screenshots are all over this thread with direct comparisons. Plus there's screens of VidJunkie's re-color timed version that he should hook me up with. Oh yeah, there's also the Vudu HD stream in original color.

I never said there was no change, just not as much as a change that people are making out and i can promise you that if a tv or PJ is not correctly set up can make the colour seem all wrong
Where did you say you got your theatrical release from again?

Just your opinion is it not.

I am not trying to change anyone's minds or anything, but for me it looks great and i am willing to bet that if times and budget constraints were not a massive factor in the making of this movie, the new colour timing is more to the what was originally envisaged.

It's my opinion it looks worse and too dark, lots of make-up effects are lost. It's a fact it looks different. I didn't want to believe these screens either before my copy got here, but they look like what I saw (the dark half, light half is dvd). I said it many posts ago, but one of the things I always loved about this film was that it all happened during what looked like a perfect beautiful day. Provided great contrast to the horror unfolding.

Sorry mate but it looks nothing like those pics, that i am afraid has been doctored to look worse than it is IMHO......Also remembering that DVD and Blu Ray have a different colour space so have allowances been made for that when taking the pics as well as a whole host of other factors which have to be explained before making direct comparisons such as some of those shown here

In most cases trying to judge colour etc from some pics if i may borrow a quote " is like trying to judge what a high end audio system sounds like down a telephone ".

Enjoy the movie, I'm done here. While some settings on my TV made it look slightly better than those screens, none made it look like the dvd or film I saw in theaters back in 1990. I won't change your mind, you won't change mine, so let's drop it and watch some flicks.
