Well, if you're going to believe what you want in the face of facts, then I'll refer to you as the Flat Earth NOTLD Society.

If Savini is such an uncaring a-hole then why would he say something to "save face?" If you knew the timeline of his opinion, it was VERY early in the release, not quite a week before the whole shitstorm took off. In fact, his comment helped ignite it. So no, he was speaking the truth when he actually said he liked it.

And if you "don't care what the filmmaker intended" then who are you a fan of and where do you show a little respect?

The answer is obvious, with most armchair wannabe filmmakers, you don't have any for the people who do the work. Guess what, it's pretty clear that both Savini and the DP have their story straight about it being a sunny day they didn't want. On film sets, and clearly this comes as a surprise to you, the director and DP are one of the closest collaborations there are. You can bet they *****ed and moaned about having sun permeate their film. And hey, you like the effect it had, that's the nature of art. But THEY wanted something different. And you can bet they comiserated on that during shoot, editing and further post. So when the time came to tweak color for the 20th anniversary release the DP already had no doubts that Savini wanted it darker. They didn't need to have said conversation for the umpteenth time. Savini liked it. There's nothing more to understand.

And stop acting like Tom Savini broke into your house and took the version you drool over so much. You'll always have it fercryinoutloud.

And no, Greedo doesn't shoot first.

BTW - your hypocrisy is palpable and predictable: you're taking pot shots at someone who isn't here to defend himself to your bs charge of diminishing HIS film, while licking the nads of people who ARE here AND have done the same thing - altered the film.

I and other people don't care what the film maker intended as this is always the excuse they use to butcher their previous work. I want to see the movie as it was made, not the revisionist versions.

I really like the daytime aspect of NOTLD 1990 as it was nice to see zombies with awesomely done makeup during the day. It was a nice change and gave this release a unique presence and look instead of being an exact remake of the original. As it started of sunny and then got dark as time went on, reflected the doom of the situation and how things started off nice but then got worse and worse.

I call bull$hit to the whole Savini, "The darkness is how we originally intended it to be. We just ran out of time." Come on Savini. You are just doing revisionist film making on a film you did back in 1990. 22 Years later. If you want a NOTLD in darkness, then do another remake, and leave this one alone.

So what next. Are we going to have a Count Chocula release of Day of the Dead where all the daytime shots are turned to night? Or how about do the same smurfness to Dawn of the Dead.

Just remaster the film as it is and as it was released in the theatres.

But that doesn't change the fact that Savini wasn't even involved with the revisionism. It would be one thing if he was involved but it's another that someone else decided to make changes.

Changes as I posted above, he had always wanted made. Unless you think he's lying to save face, in which case you might fall off the edge of the earth on your way to Best Buy.

No, I don't think you're, or he's, lying but that doesn't change the fact that he wasn't involved to make the specific changes he wanted.

Savini is getting paid royalty fees for these movies. You think he's going to say the movies are awful and should be recalled? You don't bite the hand that feeds you.

Apparently, TT even sent him a promo copy of the Blu-ray release so he could see it for himself.

Typically that would be the case, but he's gotten his check from Sony already. Whether they sold zero or sold out it didn't matter. That's an effect of the TT business model.

So waht's the difference between him and Prinzi who apparently pushed back? Answer - not much. One liked it, the other thought it went too far.

I seriously doubt how a guy who everyone just spent the last two pages being the subject of "tom savini a-hole" internet searches is suddenly kissing someone's ass so he can get a better deal when... his Theater Bizarre shorts are released to blu ray? Huh?

I'm just bringing up a possibility of why he wouldn't. None of us know for sure. Either we take what he said at face-value, or we look at other reasons why he might have said it. I personally can accept that he liked it, but I also don't think that highly of the man so his opinion doesn't really hold any weight. Prinzi's opinion, being a DP, holds more weight in my book. Sony sought him out after all for consultation of the BD release, and presumably not Savini.

I still don't agree with Prinzi's decision to revise the film, even if that's what they wanted when it was originally filmed. I believe the original representation of the film should always be available alongside revisionist versions.

Savini was the director of the film. His only check will be coming from the Director's Guild of America. I assume he had back end profit participation and I'm supposing that everyone here can guess how much money he's gotten from THAT, but I'll save you the trouble - 0.

Default The Flat Earth NOTLD Society

Yes Greedo Shoots first! No not really. But Lucas-Revisionist film making would have you believe it.

I and others believe the facts.

I don't know Savini, so I can't say if he is Captain a-hole or the Dali Lama. I asked him years ago via email if there is going to be a blu-ray release of NOTLD 1990 and he said he was not aware of any movement to do this. I will see if I can find the email he sent me.

Progress of not revising a film 23 years after it was originally released. So if that means I and others are part of the Flat Earth NOTLD Society, then as Venger would say, "So be it."

What the film maker intended is interesting information, but does not excuse revisionism film making. Nor does it excuse one of his staff taking liberties to darken the film without Savini's knowledge.

As for Savini's current opion, I can try to email him again mentioning this thread and see if either he will email me back or post directly on here.

As for your more insulting comments. You know what they say about opinions.

May the Force be with you, always.
